How Sweet It Is!

Thursday, November 04, 2010

I was responding to a post and this was my reply... which also applies to most of the health issues I've been faced with! LOL I was reading it back to myself for editing purposes and thought I'd like to share with more people than just my friends on that one thread, so...

I hated the idea of having diabetes too, but as time went by I discovered that a LOT of people with diabetes lived BETTER lives because of it. They take the care of themselves they should have been doing all along.

It's the 'glass half full' instead of the 'glass half empty'...

We choose.

A friend here on SP recently reminded me of that.

I look at it this way: There are no foods I cannot have, I can indulge if I like, whenever I like, but there are foods that have a price attached to them that I don't want to pay.

I choose.

You and I have the opportunity to embrace a simpler and more natural way of life that has exciting new food combinations to try, a better understanding of mortal living and our place in it, an appreciation that goes beyond our own immediate and physical satisfaction... We can find the sweetness we crave in the beauty of the world around us and in the faces of friends and family with whom we can spend quality time instead of eating it away...

It's so easy to let it drag us down, but we don't have to. We choose.

I hope you can find something to smile about today. Life really IS sweet...

What an AWESOME attitude!! Keep smiling...Life really is sweet!!!
You are so right...it is about choices. We can choose to eat the things that keep our diabetes out of control or we can choose the things that are healthy and help us maintain a better quality of life for ourselves. Thank you so much for sharing this blog with us.
    Blessings and hugs,
