Thought I was going to Die!!!!!!

Well that is a bit dramatic but.....
Talked myself into trying to work with the podcast from Podrunner Intervals. It is a nine week plan to get you ready to run a 5K race by the end of the nine weeks. Today was the first weeks cast. It was a 3K interval .
5 minute warmup at 5.5K/h. Then the music changes a little faster. I found a good pace at 6.2K/h. I don't remember how many minutes this goes on for until your hear the chimes, I think only 1 and a half. You keep alternating when you hear the chimes and they adjust the beat of the music.
So, I going a long thinking I doing really great until about 14 minutes into it. Then my knee started to hurt, my ankles ached, I had a pain in my gut. THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE.( I know, I know, what a woos.) It made me realize just how out of shape I am. Then I hit the 17 minute mark and started to feel better. Nothing was hurting as bad. I guess it is just like starting any motor that has sat for a long time. It takes awhile for it to run smoothly with out sputtering.
When the podcast ended my mileage was only at 2.74K, soooo I cranked up the speed to 7.5K/h and sprinted to the finish .I DID IT. And, I finally figured out after 7 years of owning this treadmill that the speed and distance are in Kilometers not miles.
Yes it is only baby steps, but it made me feel GREAT!!!!!
Hay, maybe it will finally click in that I can do anything I set my mind to.
