As I was walking out in the 90 degree heat with my feet aching after just walking for 15 minutes, I thought to myself ...what a weakling I'm feeling the pain already and I haven't even walked for 30 minutes yet...ugh!! What on earth has happened to me???? I was an avid athlete all of my life...went to fire school and just myself and one other girl ( she was 10 years younger than me at the time)out of 7 girls graduated with my class ...the other 20 were men. I was so strong and fit and obstacles were just fun challenges for me. WHAT HAPPENED to that girl????? Ugh!! I am so disappointed in myself and yet I know I have to push on! It's now or never!! Time is up!!! I will be 47 next month and with each passing year it gets tougher and tougher. I feel my heart working harder than it needs to....and my muscles have atrophied horribly. I currently had a tough time with a peri-menopausal issue and became very anemic, so I am struggling with getting my energy back. All in all I need to quit ignoring how unfit I have become and start taking it seriously and not give up or give in! It's going to take a lot of hard work and determination. I can do this and I will !!! I will not let anything stand in my way this time!! No more excuses!!

    Looking back is very hard on us emotionally. I find myself dealing with that everyday. I think we are always thinking of our health regardless of our fitness level. It's just when we are fit we feel great and when we are out of shape, not so great. It was never your muscles that made you strong. It was who you were (and still are) that did all the hard work and stayed dedicated to making your muscles strong. With your positive attitude and outlook you will overcome the need to look back over your shoulder. Your amazing right now! Your body is your body right now and your the right somebody to make a difference in your body's fitness level. I'm proud of you!

    I can so relate to this post. I had that same "what on earth has happened to me?" moment. I used to rise to challenges, and it's time to be that woman again.

    I love your positive outlook! You have taken the first big step seeing that you need to get fit again and going forward to make it happen. Life happens for everyone and eventually people start taking it back and becoming who they should be. I think it is awesome that you are going to get fit again. The first few days are always the hardest, it gets easier! I find it easier to get started and sticking to it when I have a challenge! It helps hold me accountable and it makes me feel like I have accomplished something.
