**I'll preface this by saying I'll will properly update my numbers on July 1st. Its when I usually measure/take pics, etc.

My Challenge Name: emoticonThe Summer of Freedom emoticon


emoticon My Starting Weight: 174.8 (6/29)

emoticon Four Other things I will be measuring during this challenge & their current stats: (body measurements, race times, crunch max, jeans size, whatever YOU need to track)
1. Run time - Minutes per mile - 13.54 mm on 6/25
2. # of push-ups on my toes (consecutively) - 4
3. Lower body - hips/waist/thighs *to be updated
4. Upper body - arms/chest *to be updated

emoticon If I am going to be 100% honest with myself, the reason I am doing this challenge is because:
While I feel I'm making good progress in some ways I could do so much better in others. I need to bring it with my eating and to be honest I could push myself harder to make sure I get more cardio in weekly.

emoticon I feel like the reason that I have not been progressing as well as I hoped I would be is because:
I'm not watching my calorie counts. Doing that helps me to stay on track. When I don't keep track I'll sneak a piece of chocolate in here and there and I know all that stuff adds up. I'm not being 100% honest with myself in that regard and I know its hurting my progress long term.

emoticonThis time, I commit to finishing my challenge because I know that: Doing the challenge for me isn't the hard part. I just need to make sure I put the push behind it. At no point do I just want to "go through the motions.".

emoticon I'm scared of: Frustration over time from not seeing more results.

emoticon I want to: See more results and get a little more control over my diet.

emoticon But I have faith in: Myself. Just like I found my groove with sticking to exercise I know I can do it with diet. I just need to keep trying.

emoticon And THIS TIME, I will NOT quit, because THIS TIME: Oh I don't quit. That word isn't even in my vocab. I've stopped and started too many times in the past and I refuse to go there again.

emoticon My top five non-health related motivations right now are:
1. Just being able to say I finished whatever program I'm on (currently Chalean Extreme and hoping to move onto P90X in another month or so)
2. My kids
3. My husband who is currently making awesome changes exercise wise himself.
4. I need that confidence booster.
5. Vanity. I don't think I look horrid now...I just want to look even better (fit into old clothes etc).

emoticon The best way to motivate me is to: I love daily reminders of affirmations. Its one of the reasons I love tumblr now though I admit I didn't get it at first. There are some great motivational pics/quotes/phrases to be found from many different sources on there.

emoticon The best way I can motivate myself is to: Continue to stay connected via Sparkpeople. I also remember where I want to go and where I don't want to head in the future. I have some family that battles obesity and health problems associated with it. Its not a path I want to go down at all. When you see loved ones struggling with something they can/could have prevented its a real mind opener.

emoticon My name is Amber and I will declare this my summer of freedom. I will bust through the barriers and break down the walls of "I can't." because I CAN and I WILL.
