Its ALL in Your Head...The Power of Positive Thinking.

Thursday, August 25, 2011

One thing that I have come to find while losing weight is that it is more about your mental state than anything else. For example, how many decisions do you make in one day? How many do you make that affect your health/weight? A LOT!
-hmmm chocolate or banana?
-gym or tv?
-stairs or elevator?
-take one more scoop, or not?
Little decisions like these are crucial to your weight loss. Making the RIGHT decisions are the key to success.

and that brings me to.......

This blog post was inspired by how my day went today.....so let me give you the lowdown.
This morning I woke up at 5:00 am to go to my boot camp class, low and behold when I get there the trainer didn't have his keys!!!! (crazy I know), he asks if its okay if we come later, not an option, because I have class! I tell him, I don't care if we workout outside, and he agrees. And let me tell you it was one of the hardest classes I have had. Sprints and lunges galore!!!

Later in the day at lunch time in my school's cafeteria I made healthy decisions to have a turkey wrap and a salad, (the all you can eat hot bar is really not appealing to me now), but later on I was sooooo increadibly tempted to have a small bowl of frozen yogurt (not the worst thing in the world, but I knew it wasn't very healthy), to make a long story short I focused more on my good conversation with my friends than rather the tasty deliciousness of the ice cream and I bypassed it completely.

After all my classes were over today I went to the field house because I really wanted to get a long run in. My goal was 3.5 miles, I struggled to get halfway, mostly out of boredom. But in the end I finished it out and was proud.

Now lets take a look back at what could have gone wrong with my day.....
1. I could of thought "screw this, Im going back to bed" instead of asking to workout outside.
2. I could have had that ice cream and felt guilty the rest of the day knowing I made a bad decision
3. I could have gave up on my run only one mile in and felt dissapointed for my lack of effort.

Whats my secret?!?
.....no its not a magic pill
......no its not that perfect and things come easy to me
........no its not that mysterious thing called willpower

for starters it can be very hard to do at firs (retraining your brain from negative thoughts to positive ones can be dificult, trust me i know) but once you master the art of the positive thought nothing can stop you!

Here are some of the thoughts I had today.....
"I didn't get up at 5 am for nothing"
"This is going to be really good for you, workout!"
"Ice cream is lousy, being skinny is awesome!"
"Just keep going your almost half way..."
"Just one more quarter mile, and another and another..." (an example of how small goals add up quickly!)

So remember this...... whenever your in a pinch with the bazillion decision you must make daily, THINK POSITIVE!!!! THINK POSITIVE!!!! THINK POSITIVE!!!!!!

and remember no one is perfect, we all make mistakes, so if one decision you make falls through the cracks and you mess up..... its no biggie! The power of positive thoughts will get you right back on track for success and happiness!

I hope this blog post helps! Happy Sparking!

I completely agree, it's all about believing in yourself and your abilities. I think it's really important to know that you are human and that we all make mistakes. I really help myself by not beating myself up for little indulgences or having a rest day :)

I love your way of thinking. You reduce things to the "simplest" element, which is awesome. And when we think about it that way, we can all do that. It's so easy to get over-whelmed when trying to lose weight. It's so nice to get these little reminders from people who are on the same path to help us stay the course!

    Very awesome job!
