New beginnings

Wednesday, January 04, 2012

I know that I have been "hit or miss" on the computer for the past few days but, so very much is happening in our lives! Bob and I have decided to take the "next" step in our lives and have put our home up for sale. We are going to move into an "adult" community.

Not that we don't like kids, but our acreage has gotten too much for us to take care of any more. We thought long and hard and have decided that this is the time in life for US! We don't want to spend every spare moment fixing, cleaning, mowing, raking, etc. We want to have time to enjoy life while we are still young enough to do so!!! Yes, it was a very difficult decision but, now that it has been made, we both feel so much at peace with it that we can't believe we didn't do this a long time ago.

So, if times come when I happen to be "awol" there IS a reason!! emoticon

This is a big decision. I can't imagine us ever doing it as my husband likes his projects. I sure would like to down size the house though and find something smaller and easier to take care of.

If you are at peace with the decision, that tells the whole story right there. I hope that your home sells quickly and that you find a great new place. We lived in Solivita, located in Kissimmee, when we first moved to Florida. We found it to be expensive and click-ish. So we moved after a year and a half. We did like the fact that they mowed the lawn and edged every week. However, they didn't take care of any plantings other than trees. We still had to pull weeds, plant and water flowers and trim bushes. I didn't mind doing that since I love trimming bushes. The weed pulling I hate but did it anyway. I missed seeing some of the younger folks at holiday time. I would sell our current place in a heart beat (if we could get a good price) and move out of Polk County. I need to be closer to a place with decent medical care and Polk County doesn't have it!

Yes, they have a lot of activities and my Uncle and his companion live there so, I won't be alone when Bob is gone. It is Sand Piper about 3 miles from here. Closer to Bob's job and across from the Winn Dixie on Socrum Loop. Next to a Publix, Subway, Dollar General Market, Walgreens and much, much more.

Bob plays golf and he said he would much rather be golfing than mowing the lawn any day!!! lol. Just pray all of this goes smoothly and quickly! Right now we have just finished up with the realtor and most of the paper work. The sign should go up at the end of this week or beginning of next, depending on how busy they are. I am both excited and nervous.......am trying real, real hard NOT to turn to food during this time!!!

    See you Saturday! Hugs, Me

Sounds like a wonderful decision. Don't think we'll ever get there, though, because my hubby is too much of a packrat. He just needs his stuff around him.

I truly hope you enjoy your adult community. Which one is it? Does it have lots of activities? Hope it is just right for you. I wouldn't mind if is is SanLan since that is right near me!! -Marsha
