Going to try something different...

Thursday, January 19, 2012

Its funny in that all the time I've been on Sparkpeople off and on through the years I've never done the full Sparkpeople system. I've never done the fastbreak and the steps. I've used the tools, I've connected with folks, I've just never done the website as its been designed.

SO I'm going to start from the beginning. I'm going to follow their steps. I'm going to use their tools. Instead of me doing what I think is right or what I think should be doing I'm going to follow what they say.

I've realized I have a tendency to want to jump around. When I hear of someone doing something new and exciting I get an idea in my head that maybe I should do this new and exciting thing too. I know that consistency is key so I need to commit to doing one thing.

I'll still be wearing fitbit. I'll still be working towards upping my step count but I'll be tracking everything here. Spark would be perfect if it synced with Fitbit LOL. I'm going to really try Sparkpeople as it was designed.j

So I apologize for saying I'm going to do this and then end up doing that. Really I'm apologizing to myself on that one. For everyone else for me sounding flaky and indecisive. There has never been at any point any doubt in my mind that the system here is great so its time to give that a shot.

good luck on your new goal. Congratulate yourself for making a plan and for realizing what you did in the past wasn't exactly what you wanted. Go for it!!!

I thought of this quote when I read your blog.
Continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the key to unlocking our potential. Liane Cardes
Don't get too concerned we all try new things until we find what works. You will do it!

I don't think you are flaky and indecisive. You are going through the process of becoming healthy and finding what works best for you. You keep trying. I think you are persistent.

I found the Mind Over Body series enormously helpful in thinking through what I wanted. For me, the best thing I learned was to figure out what my real goals were, not the number on the scale. It makes it so much easier to work out when I think "I want to be able to swim with my husband when I'm 65, 75, 85 years old." I literally worked through each article with a journal. I occasionally go back for a check in.

I know what you mean there is such great information - "out there" you can take soooo many paths and *new* starts.

I need to stay on on plan - and work it for a time - 4 weeks 8 week 12 weeks - what ever I can commit too.

    Good luck on your journey!

I don't think you owe any apologies... this is a journey... and it takes different paths and growing and learning to figure out what is best for you! We are always a work in progress.

Glad you are enjoying your Fitbit & hope going to the Spark basics will be helpful to you!
