Week Disrupted by a Cold

Notes: Developing chest cold on Tuesday; probably shouldn't have run in the cold night air on Tuesday. No cardio on Wednesday and postponed scheduled tempo run Thursday. Felt better on Friday but felt a little relapse Friday night, so skipped another workout.

Consequence was this morning's run was disappointing. Started out hoping to do at least 10 miles at 9:00 pace at a walk:run ratio of 8:1. Heart rate elevated quickly to upper 150s during run segments and by mile 5 I was definitely feeling heart/lung fatigue. Legs and ankles felt fine.

Decided a long run just wasn't in the card and aborted after first lap around the Lake. (Also noticed it was warmer than usual, which might have played a role.)

Still have a little phlegmy cough, so I'm assuming diminished lung capacity was primary factor. The few days off should have served as a sort of "mini-taper" so doubt I suffered any de-conditioning during that time. The good news is that ankle soreness is non-existent and hip flexors/quad/lower abs feel good.

Going to count this as a cut-back week, perhaps wrapping tomorrow with the 1+3+1 tempo I skipped on Thursday.
