Just wanted to talk about anything and everything

Wednesday, February 29, 2012

You know life does throw a lot of things that you are not too sure that you can handle. There are times that we all do (including myself) start feeling sorry for yourself and then you look around and say to yourself "thank God for what I have" I have been blessed with good health, a good marriage, great family, roof over my head and we always have our bills paid for. What else can a person ask for. Oh I know there is always that one person that has to be negative about everything. I myself try to stay away from people like that. They can bring you down if you let them. Misery loves company.

That reminds me of the "devil". Lent started last Wednesday and I promised God that I would not eat the candy that is left in the freezer. I have Jordan Almonds (which I love dearly) and a few pieces of See's Candy. Well the devil almost God me to break my promise to God more than once. I could just see him saying "just take one piece it won't hurt." Well I did get the best of him and it sure felt good. I could see God smiling down on me and the devil ranting and raving.

I have mention to some of my friends that my husband is on a low Carb diet and he is really doing good. He had to go in for an angio gram December 8, 2011. Well the dr was not able to put a stent in as the artery was completely blocked from both ends. He added another prescription to see how it would work and also told him that he needs to lose at least 30 lbs. I went with him and asked the dr how many calories and carbs. He said 1500 calories a day and no more than 100gm of carbs a day.

I was not sure that he would do this as the dr has told him to do this many times before and it fell to deaf ears. The dr also told him that if you do what I tell you, you will lose the weight On the way coming home, I told him he has to watch the calorie intake and carbs as I would not do it for him. I know that sounded cruel but if I did that then it would not mean a thing. He was 206 and is now down to 191. He saw his dr about a week ago and he was so thrilled about his weight loss. I told the dr he has done this on his own and hubby was smiling from ear
to ear. The last dr visit, he told his dr that he will be down the 30 lbs before he sees him again and that will be in August. He is determined so know he will do it. I am always telling him how proud I am of him. Of course, when I do the shopping, I make sure that he eats healthy. He will cheat just one day a week and then goes back onto the plan and it is working. He is also seeing results and that definitely makes a big difference.

I guess I had best stop as I feel that I am wrting a novel.

emoticon Glad he is doing well! 100g is pretty generous for a low carb diet BTW. They usually start at 20g. and work up after that.

Good for you going with Denny and giving him encouragement to lose the weight. Weight is the root of most health issues. As for the candy in the frig....move it to the trash-can and pour pine-sol on it.

I know that I can't do the "one bite and that's all" thing - one bite leads to binging for me. LOL. You're doing really well - keep up the good work. Tell D we're proud of him for doing this himself - C & I know how tough it is.

Enjoyed reading your post. Isn't amazing how many times we think just one bite and I will stop and it only leads to several more.
