3/22 Update/Livefit talk

Thursday, March 22, 2012

I'm onto Phase 2 of Livefit now and its a challenge for sure. I don't think you realize how easy what you had been doing is until you get something much harder put into your lap. My arms and legs had stopped being sore after workouts the past 2 weeks but after the past few workouts I'm sore again.

The only thing I'm struggling with is getting in true cardio along with the workouts. The first 2 cardio workouts only consisted of me going for a walk with my boys at the end of the day. Extra exercise, yes... a true cardio workout, no. Today I'll be able to get it in because I'm not running errands anywhere today.

I'm doing good with keeping up on my fitbit step goals. This week is 8,000 steps a day. I only fell short yesterday by about 800 steps. What I do is tack that 800 steps onto today so I'm not falling behind. I just want to make sure that I'm continuing to stay active and keep it up. As I progress to 9,000 steps a day next week and 10,000 the week after I have a feeling I'll have to do daily walks to hit that goal. Its not a bad thing. Its a way of continuing to stay active and keep staying active which was my goal all along. I'm just glad I never told myself from the start that I had to do 10,000 a day right then and there. I would have just quit at some point. This way I'm slowly building up being more and more active.

As of 2 days ago I'm up to 12 pushups on my toes. I was pleasantly surprised to see that jump. With phase 2 I'm doing 3 sets of 15 now vs. 3 sets of 10 pushups. I'm not doing my 12 on the toes consecutive but they end up being 5, then 4, then 3, on my toes out of each set. I love that I'm really building a muscle base and can feel it. Now to just get this fat to melt off LOL.

I can hang with most all upper body workouts but legs yesterday was a challenge. I don't have the paper nearby but just the fact that you are doubling the number of walking lunges is killer. I did a few exercises without weight just so I could get the entire workout finished. I also don't feel confident doing step ups on my weight bench with weight so part of that is a saftey factor. My legs were quite fatigued by that point and I really don't want to screw myself with an injury.

Hope everyone is having a good week so far!

Congrats! I'm impressed. I am just finishing week 2 and still only able to do them on my knees. Feel like I'm back in phys ed trying to climb that rope. Think I will add them to my goal list, even it is just ONE pushup:)

    Way to go!

I had a hard time arranging my cardio for Phase 2 on non-run days since my sister inhabits my basement and I can't get to my elliptical. Great job on the pushups - I'm still in modified form but someday I'll graduate up!

    Good job!
Legs workouts are also my nemesis. Or pretty much ANY exercise that involves lifting my own body weight. Lunges are especially challenging for me because I have balance issues. But keep at 'em. It gets to 20 reps and stays there a while (with Week 7 having a change in style).
So I think its just fine, in order to hold form and avoid injury, to do things with no added weight when you're lifting your own body weight. the point is to make it challenging. If this is challenging on its own, then so be it.
And you'll add more --even if its just a little-- next time or the time after.

Great job on the push ups! Keep it up!
