Dodged the Bullet and Thank you Spark Friends

After my indulgences this week the thought of stepping on the scale was terrifying. Followed my restrictive diabetic diet but overate at dinner times. Wednesday and Thursday the calorie count had to be in the upper 2,000 or lower 3,000 range. Up until then I had been following a 1,200 daily calorie regime. My weight had not dropped in 2 weeks. Well, voila! Must have been magic because I lost 2 pounds. I checked 3 times to be sure the scale was calibrated properly. What a difference the scale can make in one's mood!

When I wrote my overeating blogs I was mortified, embarrassed, and angry at myself. Those who commented made me feel that I was still ok. It was such a burden lifted to be able to write about the bad and ugly of the week and to have it accepted. Thank you all.

    had a chance to read your last blog, and not sure but even with a larger meal or 2, perhaps you offset with extra energy expenditures from boardwalks to longer hours @ attention ;) And I noticed one time when i tracked daily over months, I kind of lost on a monthly cycle, so my body was sometimes moving in opposite directions of my food... but eventually accounts were reconciled and the calculators matched, LOL ;)

    it sounds like you had a bit extra but reasonably restrained (compared to multiple trips & plates in an all you can eat buffet, lol) and love the seafood choices!

    anyway, i have come to think for me, i do better when I allow reasonable adjustments in eating... they are part of a happy making life ~ choose it, own it, enjoy it, guilt free! and then get back to regular food, regular days :)

    Sometimes we lose weight when we eat more. And you were getting some exercise on. Congratulations on the weight loss.

    Weight fluctuations are funny things. One of the things I have learned is that when I eat too little, it acutally slows down my metabolism, and weight loss lags behind. Weird, huh.

    Of course, since I'm predominantly eating vegetables right now, that means that I have to shovel in a WHOLE LOT of food to keep calories up! (grin)

    I'm glad you're happy with your scale...isn't it amazing the power they have, over us?
    I tend to weigh myself every morning, which I know is not a good idea...but when I lose, I feel so validated and motivated. When I gain, that number can lead me to lots of unnecessary backsliding, I'm sorry to say.

    Hopefully I can still use the scale as one tool, but know that it's not the entire picture of how well I'm doing.
