Fake it Till ya Make it..

Monday, June 04, 2012

Its not an uncommon notion that in order to change many people turn to the, "Fake it Till you Make it" idea. Look to the habits and ideals of those who motivate you, those who are where you want to be and take those habits on.

Its an idea I've wanted to start embracing more. I've been reading Chalene Johnson's book PUSH and on Day 20 she does a chapter on that exact notion. She lists 10 habits related to eating, of the successful and fit.

The ones I feel I specifically need to work on are:

Sticking to the same daily menu. I don't do too bad on this but I could certainly do better when it comes to the evening. I do pretty good on breakfasts and lunch but dinner is when I go downhill if I'm going to.

Drinking water. Making absolutely sure I get those 8 glasses of water in a day.

Sticking to whole foods. A work in progress.

Eating favorite foods carefully. I don't need treats every day. I do pretty good with keeping really temping stuff out of the house but I could do better.

For anyone that might be curious her other ideas fall along the lines of eating breakfast, eating small and often, knowing your foods (good handle on portion sizes and calorie count), Don't keep tempting foods in the house, close the kitchen after dinner, and being picky at restaurants.

All pretty good ideas to adopt. Especially since food is what I tend to struggle with.

I have depended on that saying for many years-sometimes if you just keep going
through the motions and trying-it eventually clicks! Good luck!
