Weight Watchers

Monday, June 18, 2012

For the past few months it seems like I have been losing and regaining the same few pounds. I'm not really going anywhere, not really making any progress. I feel stuck.

About 7yrs. ago I joined Weight Watchers to lose some weight for my upcoming wedding. I loved it! I lost about 20lbs. Which got me to my lowest weight of my adult life. I even became a lifetime member and was able to attend the weekly meetings for free. Well after the honeymoon I stopped going to the meetings, and the weight slowly came back on. Now it seems like I am constantly battling my weight. I lose a few then gain a few etc. etc. etc.

On Friday after talking to a co-worker who has lost 90lbs. on the new Weight Watchers plan, I decided to join again. I joined on line since I don't have a lot of time in the evening to attend the meetings. I'm usually at the gym after work. They have a new program now from when I did it years back.

I finally feel motivated again and feel like I can really do this. Most fruits and vegi's are no points on the new plan, which I love! I also love that I get bonus points that I can use on foods that are not so healthy. Everything in moderation.

I'm still tracking my food on SparkPeople though. I even went through my food list on SparkPeople and added in their point values. I like how on my SparkPeople tracker I can track all the nutritional info. I want such as calories, fat, fiber, sodium, protein etc. When you track on Weight Watchers you can only see your points for the day and no other nutritional info.

I hope that everyone is doing great! Thanks for all the support!!! emoticon

I've been on WW since 2/1/12 and have lost 46lbs so far towards my goal of losing 76lbs. It's a great program (in my opinion) and seems to work for all those that have tried it. And I agree with you that since WW only is counting points, it's nice to know how many calories, carbs, etc. that we're eating with Spark People. Glad these programs are out there for all to want to use them. Best of luck to you in your weight loss journey and have a great fourth of July! emoticon

It's good to seek out what works for you! I know what you mean about losing the same pounds. I'm doing that too...but determined to put a stop to it and go all the way! We can do this! Keep up the good work! Thanks for the encouragement! Spark on! emoticon

I like WW online too, I am a member and have been for a few months. I like SP for the community and the articles and the fitness video, but the food tracker on the NZ/Australian WW is much better for me, the SP tracker has so many unfamiliar foodstuffs I find it a bit clunky. I like tracking in two places, and I have 2 weigh in days which keeps me honest, LoL. I'd love some SP support for my WW so think of me if you want a WW buddy, too!

Like you, I did Weight Watchers many years ago when they used all the exchanges. Unlike you, I was never very successful on it. I would obsess over how much more milk or protein I needed and whether something was half a fruit or a whole fruit. If I slipped at all, I felt like I "blew it" and quit. I decided to try WW again and am so impressed with the new points plus program! Wow! What a difference! I never feel like I can't eat anything because I have run out of food for the day, because I can always have fruit if I want. I also love that if I eat a small piece of something sweet, that I don't have to beat myself up because I can use the weekly points. For the first time ever, I feel like this is a program that will work for me. I haven't been to any meetings because I haven't figured it into my schedule yet, but that is high on the "to do" list this week. I also like interacting on SP better because the WW site confuses me. I just track points and activity there. Good luck! If you want to share WW ideas or questions, feel free to keep me in mind. emoticon

    Have a great day tomorrow!

Good idea - I did WW many years ago and actually made maintenance but I am over that weight now. Might look into it again. Good luck - I am sure it will be the right incentive.

I like the WW on starches...
I always wondered how people thought they were okay even if there diet was focused on starches instead of veggies.
sound like you are back in action..... emoticon

I know how you feel. I need to lose another 7lbs too and its taking me a lot longer to achieve any results. I know I need to re-evaluate my calorie intake and probably need to up my exercise. Good luck with your new plan. I hope I can stick with mine!

You made some great point here. I too have been on Weight Watchers before and fell off the program. I agree that I enjoy the ability to track more than just points each day. By tracking my sodium and protein, etc it helps me plan better menus. I love the Sparkpeople recipes! Don't give up....it's all about life style change not dieting :)
