Ok so I'm writing for the first time in a long time. I have been working on health and weight since Feb. 2012 (this time). I quit smoking and started walking to "walk it out" on my wii. AFter a while I asked my grandson to go with me to high school track to see if I could walk outside of home safely. No joke I was worried; that's how bad my health was. My sister recommended the total gym for working out and we bought. it Then my husband wanted the cyclo trainer that works with toatal gym. Next I bought an old ladies bike and started the 5K training programs through Spark.
I have hit 3 plateaues and I am on one now. I have lost some weight and I can do a little slowww jog.
Yesterday I did my 5K. My husband and grandson went with me and were my support for the virtual race. My goal was to try and not walk the entire race. I stopped once after the first 1/4 mile lap to stretch and after that I slow jogged the whole race. This was huge for me and I am still in awe that I was able to do it.
I signed up for the next program that lasts for 5 weeks. I hope it goes well.
I have learned:
Keep changing the work outs to keep it fresh and interesting.
Work out with someone else even if they just keep you company it will help you stay in it and make them feel good cuz they are helping someone else.
Some weeks I need to be on Spark every single day to stay motivated and focused.
I try to log everything I eat.
I need to learn:
Not to weigh myself so much.
Not to worry about how long this will take.
My goal now: To lose enough weight so that hopefully my sleep apnea will go away.
To continue slow jogging so that one day I can cut my time for the 5K.
Get an ipod.
Find a way to use an elliptical machine to see if my back likes this exercise and if so get one for home.
I would like to add a couple of important statements today.
I want to thank my husband for his support the last 5 months I know it has been an ajustment period for him and he deserves it. I also want to say how proud of him I am for walking 1 and 1/4 miles yesterday while I did my 5K. Good for you J.
I want to thank my grandson for being there for me the entire time and always being ready each day to exercise. Anything from riding bikes in triple tempetures to toatal gym in the cool.
I am also sending a big thanks to my sister C. for her support and motivation. She is the only person in the world who KNOWS!! I know she knows because we share the same genes.
I am so proud of her cuz she just don't give up.
Oh yeah I almost forgot; I've got a huge blister on the bottom of my foot. Who the heck gets blisters on the bottom of their foot? It's a first for me!!
