5 Things That Hold Me Back

Sunday, September 09, 2012

I'm on the Turquoise Titans BL Fall Challenge and one of our challenges for this week is to list 5 things that hold me back from accomplishing my goals. You know, I don't think I've ever really thought about this even though I certainly haven't been successful every time I try to lose weight. So now that I have given it some thought, here goes!

l. I don't like strength training but I know it is important that I add it to my exercise routine. I do like cardio except I don't always get all I should each week.

2. I'd rather spend my time knitting, crocheting, reading and being on the computer rather than exercising especially when I'm watching TV! Also rather do those things than be in the kitchen cooking!

3. I justify "cheat" or splurge days more than I should to be successful!

4. It is easy to be talked out of choosing healthy foods when I'm with friends and/or family. Guess I'm a wimp!!!!!

5. At some point, before reaching my goals, I get content where I am and won't push myself to get where I know I should be.

Okay, now that I've put these in a blog it will make me really think about it every time I reread this!!!

Thanks to all who take the time to read this and I appreciate all your encouragement!!

Here's to a better me!!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I know this is an old post but the title got my attention, I learned a little more about you today, you can count on my prayers, remember, taking 1 step and 1 day, doing baby steps every day does get results...I appreciate your openness here and being so candid about your struggles and what holds you back...I admit some of those activities like crocheting and making dish cloths would be tempting for me also instead of a work out that produces hard physical work & sweat.... having said that, I'm here for you and cheer you on your journey... emoticon emoticon

I can relate to a few.... but my worst is controlling my mouth.... when stressed, I eat! My biggest defense is I am a softy for new foods that help people.... like my church is having a candy sale and its hard to say no! Esp when it helps with missions, so I try and not count those calories! I keep G*d in charge of those ones! I Hope you can beat your challenges! If anyone can do it, its you! Susana

Good blog! It always seems to help when you put it down on paper. I've gone so far as to put my weightloss on my facebook page. Along with the support I get, I will also be held accountable for the weight I gain. (which I have no intention on doing of course) Good Luck! emoticon emoticon

Well put. Now let us work on loving exercise. Learning to be assertive is something we all have to work on. emoticon

Good for you for making the list. Awareness is half the battle so you are almost there. Good luck Sandi!

I can relate but don't let these things continue to
hold you back. Make the effort because you are
    worth it.

Wow Sandi, that could be me.... especially #1 and #2 (if only I didn't have to sleep, or work for a living, I would have enough time for both knitting AND exercise!)......and #3 and #4.... oh my, we are so similar!

If you can do it, then I can do it..... Let's work on these obstacles for the fall challenge, knowing that we are not alone in the struggle!

Very good blog Sandi my friend! Well said, and some of the things that you listed, are the same or similiar to mine on my blog. Guess we're not alone with these problems.
One step at a time.......One day at a time.......One goal at a time.......

Good idea to write these down! I read about a woman who was just getting started and she picked three simple changes she would make for 21 days straight. I liked that idea, too, as supposedly, it takes 21 days for an action to become a habit.

I think we are all guilty of a little bit of everything on your list at one time or another. Sometimes we just get so comfortable in what we are doing, that we don't push ourselves harder. I know that we will have a great Fall Challenge! We can do this together!

I have a feeling there are going to be a lot of comments agreeing with your 5 things. I know I sure do. Thanks for putting them in writing - it will help you but will also help all of us who read them. It's a reality check, that's for sure. emoticon

I think that we all have the same or similar issues. I have learned to do my ST exercises as I watch TV. The time on the recumbent bike goes so much faster when I am concentrating on something else.
No one and no thing gets in the way of my emoticon
I know that you will emoticon and forge ahead! emoticon

It does make a difference when you put it in writing but I know you can do it and we're all here cheering you on.
