Sooo. I won the Dietbet! YAY! For anyone that doesn't know the idea is that you go to Dietbet.com...join a game, put in real $$, and whoever in the game reaches their goal (4% weight loss in 28 days) you split the pot. My game had 27 people and so far 12 have weighed in with a winning weight. I think we still have about 18 hours until the entire game is closed. Our group has lost , so far, about 132 lbs in a month.
Let me tell you though it was very, very close for me. We are talking points of a lb close.
I went over some of this in my last post but I'm just throwing out some thoughts here..
When I do another dietbet I plan on throwing more exercise into the mix. This dietbet winning for me was based mostly on diet/calorie counting. I think I could do better making sure I get more cardio in during the month. I did stay active this month, I did some cardio, but I didn't push myself for exercise.
I also really liked how this dietbet made me very aware of what I've been eating. You have no idea how many foods I've turned down because I found it not worth it this past month and in particular the last week and a half ot he month. I know that sounds incredibly snobby but I've learned that you kinda have to be that way. I had to turn down something my mother in law fixed for dinner on Saturday and I profusely apologized but I wasn't hungry and it was something that had a lot of sodium in it. I was too close to weigh in to do it (and she knew that..I had mentioned it to her when she mentioned pizza on the phone earlier in the day LOL).
Yesterday after my weigh in I went and got a pumpkin spice frappuchino (I declare that well worth it in moderation) and made sure I counted it in my calorie count for the day. I don't want to say to myself that this is over I can go binge. I actually really happen to like the fact that my pants are looser and I'm currently at a weight that I haven't seen in probably 6 years despite it only being a 7 lb difference from the start of the month (this would be a 9-10 lb difference from my high weight).
My goals for the upcoming month are:
8 glasses of water a day (doing really well on that for the last few weeks)
10,000 steps a day at least 5x's a week.
2 strength training sessions a week
4 exercise sessions a week (cardio based)
Pick another dietbet... (I'm thinking of maybe one that will start around October 10th)
Keep counting calories and sticking towards more whole foods
So that is where I'm at. I do reccomend Dietbet if you need that kick in your pants because that is what it did for me. I really had some ups and downs this month but its showed me what I need to do to lose weight. That's not such a bad thing.
