Shortness of breath continues

Thursday, October 25, 2012

I went to walk yesterday and couldn't finish. I was so short of breath. I made it home okay and called my Doctor's office. I got in to see him at 9:15 am. B/P, pulse, respirations and temperature all normal. Pulse Ox. was 99 % which is great. Still couldn't breathe. Now, I don't mean that I was turning blue or gasping but clearly there was a problem somewhere. He sent me to have a chest x-ray. After the Chest x-ray, I went and got a new prescription filled for a strong diuretic called LASIX. They are to schedule an echocardiogram to check for heart damage since I have had hypertension since I was 30 years old. And will show if I have LVH ( Left ventricular hypertrophy ). Of course all the diagnostic answers are scary. There are too many to list. I haven't heard from anybody yet about the scheduling of the echo or the Chest x-rays. I'll let you know. Please pray for me as it seems to be worse today!

    Linda,
You're doing all the right things: getting right into the doctor, going for tests, etc. That's all you can do until you know more.

I'll be thinking of you and sending best wishes your way. Please let us know what you find out.

    Dear Linda,

I am sorry to hear you are feeling so unwell. I know how frightening it can be when you are having difficulty breathing, but please try and stay as calm as you can, it will only make you more anxious and more breathless if you panic. You have the knowledge from your Dr that your general signs - BP etc - are good, so that is one major stride forward, and you have appointments in the pipeline for your heart, so just try to relax as much as you can in the meantime - and I know that's easier said than done, but please try.

I think it's time that your Hubby began to pull his weight a bit more on the support side - he does tend to leave you to it, and concentrate on his own life, so it's time for him to Man Up and support you for a change instead of being so selfish. He needs reminding of the vows he took - in Sickness and in Health in particular. Lay it on the line with him Linda, you need some help and support, and good old fashioned TLC wouldn't go amiss either.

I am sending Loads of Love across the pond to you my Friend, you are constantly in my thoughts Linda, and included in my prayers.

try to stay calm while waiting. That's the hard part, I know, but you don't want to get yourself worked up and have a possible problem by stressing yourself out. Sometimes easier said than done, all you can do is try. my thoughts are with you
