Back on Track! but still in Denver...

Sunday, November 25, 2012

I'm still in Denver visiting family, so there are still lots more chances to mess up... no wait... There are still lots more chances to make better decisions! emoticon

So I flew out to Denver, CO with my mother to visit my brother and his wife on Thanksgiving afternoon/evening. Since my sister-in-law had the nightshift at the hospital, we all went out to breakfast on Friday morning. We went to a Cajun restaurant, which had all kinds of wonderfully yummy but not in the least bit healthy foods. I think I did okay with restraining myself... but then we made a huge dinner that night... After I calculated all my food, I was definitly over on my calories and my fat allowances... emoticon

Then the next morning, my sister-in-law fixed us a big breakfast, eggs, bacon, left over french toast from the cajun restaurant, leftover sausage and biscuits, too... So much food!

And then we went on a hike up in the foothills of the mountains! We went to see the Marshall Falls in Arapaho National Forest... they were completely iced over! After my brother puts up his photos I will try and link some to my page... the icefalls really are very cool (heh, no pun intended). The trail was supposed to be pretty easy, and to my brother and s-i-l, it probably was... But I had a little bit of trouble with the altitude, I had to keep remembering to breathe deeply and drink lots of water. But we got all the way around the loop trail. Then we drove over to Red Rock and took a look at those(Stunning!)

But then we had a large dinner at a custom pizza parlor! I should have only eaten two slices, but I had three... They were yummy. And then my brother bought us a turtle icecream pie... and I had a piece... So I was also over on my counts for yesterday (Saturday).

But today was a bit better! I got the chance to watch the house and the dogs while the rest of the family went out on errands... which meant I got to fix my own breakfast! So I put together some of the leftovers and a fresh banana into a reasonable sized meal. emoticon
Then I took the two dogs for a walk! I walked them for a little over an hour, so they had some good exercise, and so did I!

Then we did a girls trip to Boulder to see the Celestial Seasonings Tea Factory. They had a really neat tour through the factory itself, and you could taste test all 70+ of their tea flavors right there! It was a really neat trip! And then we went to downtown Boulder and walked down part of the Pearl Street Mall, which has all kinds of really neat shops. We had lunch at a restaurant called "Illegal Pete's," which was a REALLY tasty mexican restaurant. We got really yummy, really huge burritos, so I had some of it for dinner, too!

After I calculated all my foods for the day, I found I still had room on my nutrition chart for a piece of pie, so I had one small piece... It was tasty... emoticon

But today was supposed to be weigh in day... but my sister in law doesn't have a scale.... so I will be weiging in on Wednesday, after I get back home to ATL.
In the meantime, I am drinking oodles of water, playing with dogs, and trying to figure out what we are doing tomorrow...
I think there is a museum exibit on Pompeii that Mom and Bro wanted to see... and the US Mint has a Facility Tour here in Denver... and there is always the zoo, too.

Thanks for stopping by!

It's so hard to stay on track when you aren't home, especially if you're on vacation. Being aware of what you should and shouldn't eat though is half the battle. Great job!
