Overdid it, and learned that rest is good, too.

We hear all the time about the importance of exercise, getting out and doing cardio, moving, doing. Brenda and Karen, my personal trainers have tried for a year to convince me that rest is good, too.
Well, I am now a believer. I overpushed on Friday. I did 15 minutes of walking, including some distance without the walker. Starting yesterday, the pain in my hip and thigh were back, and my body was protesting any activity at all, including walking down the hall.
Today I mostly rested, and now can walk the hall without pain. I am forcing myself to rest the remainer of the evening, and part of the morning before I pack for my trip. My duties tomorrow will include getting a cane to make stairs easier (there is a set of stairs at the show venue I am going to), and to take up less room in the crowd. I also have to pack. I am not taking a lot. Just toiletries and some simple clothes and one kind of dressy outfiit.
The last week has taught me patience with myself. and the value of rest. I have accomplished things, but to pace myself.
The mantra is: Rest is good, movement with discretion.
Here's to another great week!
