Goals in simple terms

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

219 It's a better number than 220, but not as good as my starting point of 216. I gained some weight over the holidays, now time to take it back off. It's surprising how much difference that 5 pounds makes. I know what 5 pounds of fat looks like, there was a sample of what 5 pounds of fat looked like in one of the places I used to work. Looked at that thing every day. But it isn't till your shirt doesn't fit right that you really realize it.

I'm thinking of my goals in more simple terms. I've got a simple pink cotton summer night gown that is my final goal. That is what size I want to ultimately be. It's where I can see it now in my closet as a reminder each morning. emoticon For now my first goal is for my current clothes to fit better. Then for my next size down clothes to fit, which will put me at my first goal weight. My first fitness goal is to be able to workout on the elliptical for a full 30 minutes on low setting, then I'll start on the next resistance setting. My weight training goal is to be able to move up from the 2 pound weights to the 5 pound weights. This may take a little longer, but I'm working hard to make it happen! emoticon

Diet. I've not been doing so well with that. Today I'm going to let myself have that last taste of beef and then no more, back to my pescetarian diet. Should be no problem since I love fish and veggies. My husband may have crohn's disease, so we both have to keep away from certain starches and eat more veggies, which will make it a whole lot easier to have those veggies in the house and on hand. I think I can make it work this time!

Exercise! I'm getting better at the elliptical, I'm up to 9 minutes and am going to do 10 + however long I feel I can today. I was so happy when I got to where I could go over 5 minutes! I'm so tired of feeling this out of shape!! I've started P90X again, I'm going at my own pace and just doing what I can, but it helps to have a program to do. My 6 yr old loves the P90X and wants to do it with me. I don't like waiting till that late in the day to do it, but I love seeing her have such fun, and doing it together emoticon I make sure to stretch after everything! I loved working out on my wii fit when I had one (it broke during the move last year) so I think one goal reward will be to get another one, since it made the extra training so much fun. My neighbor and I have already decided to start walking together once the weather warms up after dinner. Our neighborhood is really hilly, so that will be quite the workout!

So I have not been doing so great, but I think I've come to my senses. I have to get in shape and lose this weight for my health, myself and my children. I want my husband to react to me the way he used to (we still do great, but I don't get the 'wow's I used to). I want to be able to run around the yard with my kids and not get out of breath after a moment. I want to have excellent labs on my liver and not have to worry anymore about that. I want to look at myself in the mirror and be satisfied with how I look. I want to be able to run on the elliptical for an hour and feel energized like I used to. I want to be able to lift my daughters and be able to hold them without feeling like my arms are going to fall off. I want to have the energy to do all the things I want/need to during the day. I want to be in shape enough to go hiking in the mountains, kayaking and so many things I used to do.

Like that commercial that I saw, I want to concentrate on what I have to gain, not what I need to lose.
