Today's sermon was on prayer. Phil 4:6-7. First we're not to be anxious about anything, because when we are, it is like we are doubting the sovereignty of God. We don't trust Him. He is control of everything. If we pray with thanksgiving as the verses say, then there is no need to worry. If we don't feel peace, then we aren't appropriating the peace gives us. God has our best interest at heart. Prayer is not to change God, but to change us. It is interesting that a poll said that most Christians spend less than 5 minutes a day praying. I have to admit, I'm probably one of them. When it says we are to pray without ceasing, it means we are to be in a constant state of communication with God. Praying should be the first thing as Christians that we turn to not if all else fails. Praying is something, if you are a Christian, that should be part of your life, and not just treating God like a bellhop, but in a state of thankfulness and praise for all that He has and is doing in our lives.

Thanks for sharing the message you heard on Phil.4:6-7! It does bring to mind 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 "Be joyful always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is GOD's will for you in Christ Jesus." and Isaiah 26:3 "You, GOD, will keep in perfect peace, the one whose mind is steadfast because he trusts in You."

So true, Deb. How many times have you heard someone say "All we can do NOW is pray about it." That should be the FIRST thing we do not a last resort. Our Lord wants us to be in a constant consciousness that we have a connection to the Father through HIM and we should go to HIM first. But, alas! As humans we do fail to always remember that. It is something I have to work on everyday. If I lay my head down at night and realize that I have not talked with my Lord, I am not in the right state of mind or heart with HIM. I appreciate your blog so much. It is to me and should be a reminder to all of us that we need to "Turn OUR eyes upon Jesus" as the song says. Jesus in His own words says "No man cometh unto the Father except by me" Awesome blog. Thank you. Judy
