Today's sermon was on prayer. Phil 4:6-7. First we're not to be anxious about anything, because when we are, it is like we are doubting the sovereignty of God. We don't trust Him. He is control of everything. If we pray with thanksgiving as the verses say, then there is no need to worry. If we don't feel peace, then we aren't appropriating the peace gives us. God has our best interest at heart. Prayer is not to change God, but to change us. It is interesting that a poll said that most Christians spend less than 5 minutes a day praying. I have to admit, I'm probably one of them. When it says we are to pray without ceasing, it means we are to be in a constant state of communication with God. Praying should be the first thing as Christians that we turn to not if all else fails. Praying is something, if you are a Christian, that should be part of your life, and not just treating God like a bellhop, but in a state of thankfulness and praise for all that He has and is doing in our lives.
