So true! My mom (who passed away in dec of 2014 at age 68) inspired me so much - she came from a very poor and troubled childhood and had 3 young girls by age 24 (including twins) and went back to nursing school at age 30 after having her 4th child and did amazing and then worked in a PICU for 25 years and supported all of her kids through graduate school. She is the reason I became a physician and I miss her so much!

Any woman who was raised to think less of her rights who is purposeful and defiant and constructive makes a mark on me. My tiny grandmother has profound influence on what a bright and independent useful life is. She raised more money for children and women in Israel to have child care and schooling than all the women in Washington DC combined, fund raising in person 6 half days a week. She marched into corporate offices and got hundreds and yet only asked for a dollar from the secretaries. She even hit on a policeman who was helping with traffic. Indomitable. Without education from another country, she started and ran a restaurant, was able to make 3 piece suits without any patterns, and raised two girls. That's just one tiny lady 4'10" who rode over on a ship to make a meaningful life. RIP Eva Glick
