Bipolar Disorder

Monday, September 21, 2015

My son is back from Charleston, paranoid and delusional. It has been 4 years since he has had an episode. He was enrolled in Law School but cannot do it. I hope he gets better.

He said he had had no sleep in a week...bleary eyed and exhausted.....picking at things in the air, beating on the walls and screaming randomly. We had no choice but to take him to the emergency room. He is at the hospital now .

You and your son are in my prayers. You know in life there is someone that is going through something harder than yourself. I was sitting here thinking about my grandson, who seems to have given up on any dreams or future for himself. He is not delusional or paranoid and that within itself is a blessing. How selfish of me, when you are going through so much more. Prayer changes things. Take care of yourself also.

I have seen over the years that one key symptom of bipolar disorder is the illusion that they are OK and don't need their meds any longer, so they go off them and spiral down. It's a tough issue to deal with - for everyone. Best wishes to you and him as you struggle with this disorder.

So sorry for your son. I know people who deal with this problem and it isn't easy. I hope he can get some help with his meds and get back on track. Law school is very stressful. Wishing him the best.
