Week 3 is Looking Better

The last 2 weeks weren't spectacular for me so I decided last weekend that I needed to go back to doing some of the things that I know work for me. I set goals and I have been sticking to them and here it is, Wednesday night, and I'm still going strong.

I think, outsides of actually setting goals and writing them down, the second most important thing for me is journaling. I only committed to journaling in the am, but have been writing a quick blurb in evening, before bed, kind of a Monday morning quarter backing thing. It has been insanely helpful to think about what didn't go the way I wanted it to, and get me thinking about why, and what I can do differently the next day. I realized that the same thing that tripped me up on Monday, also got me on Tuesday in a different, but similar way. So today, I was armed with a strategy. And, no big surprise, it worked. I had a great day. The icing on the cake was working out. I'm a runner but can't run due to an injury. I was going on the elliptical more over the last several months because it has been less painful, but have even had to take a break from that. Until today. Against my better judgment and instructions from the physical therapist, I went on the elliptical today. For an hour (so not a very smart move, I know). I am the worst patient ever. But it felt soooooo good to be exercising and for the rest of the day it was so easy to stay on track. My ankle hurt but really no more than it does all the time so I was pretty encouraged that I might actually be able to do this. I guess I will know in the morning.... and I will come clean and confess my sins at physical therapy tomorrow, but for today, I may be limping, but I feel great. And I will be spending some good, quality time with some ice.

    Sounds like the exercise on the eliptical was a real emotional lift for you. Be careful now.... I worry about a setback if you overuse . I am impressed with your commitment to journaling. Best of luck with week 4!

    I get it-it's hard not to work out when you want to. Great news that you have identified triggers and are putting a plan in place to face them head on!
