I hope that you had a great if not memorable Thanksgiving...I know that I did!

I ran/walked my very first STEEPLE CHASE 5K yesterday and what a hoot!! If you are not familiar with this kind of 5K then let me give you a little bit of my experience.

You start out like any other 5K race/walk and you get your T-shirt and number and make new friends. To give you a hint, I had to leave my Fitbit at home because it could possibly be ruined! In hindsight I should have left it in my car. If you have ever seen a HORSE STEEPLE RACE, you would pretty much have the correct idea of what we were to encounter.

During our 3.1 mile run/walk we had a myriad of Steeple Chase obstacles to overcome...can you say laugh your way through a race. The first obstacle was a hedge we had to jump over which was maybe 12" high so everyone figured it would be pretty easy. Hold your horses there guys! As each 1/8 mile went by we came upon a different Steeple Chase item and by the time we were done we had jumped ditches of water (some made it); run around cones; done the "limbo; jumped hurdle's and run up and back over bridges!

It was the most fun 5K ever and people were laughing and helping each other over or around the different "events". By the time we were done almost everyone was wet and/or muddy and in the very best of spirits.

The after party was terrific and then there was a general 6.2 mile run/walk for the more serious people -- I did it too (not nearly as fun).

I highly recommend doing this if your community has one. If they don't have one why not suggest starting one?
