Still Undertall (Pining for the "good" Laptop)

Monday, August 08, 2016

On 7/31 as I was just about to close the lid on my Toshiba laptop, one of the residents living in the wooded area behind our house (and in another township, dag nabbit) decided in their Infinite juvenile wisdom to explode a particularly loud firework (M80 I think). Our Irish Red and White setter, not in the least bit gun-shy, but loathing fireworks noises, instantly leaped onto my lap and on top of my laptop. Suffice it to say I was shocked and horrified to have 50 pounds of terrified setter sprawled across my lap. End result: quivering pet, broken hinges, cracked laptop screen and really annoyed ME. (And no, I did not blame our dog...but those neighbors...yeah I'm totally unforgiving as they have a bad habit of setting off M80s after 11pm.)

Come to find out that new laptop screens are easy to come by, Toshiba hinges, not so much. To quote a song lyric: "Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you got 'til it's gone?" And my Laptop is only 8 months old (sigh).

They paved Paradise and put up a parking lot...

I'm so sorry that your neighbors are not being polite, as they do what comes natural to them. I pray that they get some semblance of caring about others around them, especially when they have a terrified 50 pound setter.

Prayers are coming your way Dee, and also prayers for your neighbors. Of course they are very two distinct different kinds of prayer.

emoticon The computer is so new. Any change you have insurance for it? I would lodge a complaint with the neighbor, but since they are so inconsiderate I wouldn't expect anything good to come from it.

So dust off your tutu and dance! Grrr!!

I would visit them and explain what happened and ask them not to do that. If you are not angry and judgmental with your request you may win them over. I agree that it is inconsiderate of others to be loud after 10pm whether it be fireworks or music. My neighbors used to play their car stereo so loud that even with my windows closed I had to crank up the TV to max just to hear it. I talked to them and we coexist much better now. Sorry about your laptop. My shepherd doesn't like loud noises either and hides under my chair.

    Dee, send them the bill.

Then get out and make the most of the day.... Hugs coming your way! Brad

Your neighbors are inconsiderate. No one should be setting off fireworks in a neighborhood that late at night when people are trying to sleep. A complaint to the authorities would be in order. Good luck with your noisy neighbors. emoticon
