Day #243 here in Spark Villa!
I am on this wonderful journey. An adventure of sorts into a mystical land. In this wonderful mystical land, I am learning about self care.
Yesterday on my journey I found a tip on self care from blog.blessingmanifesting.com that I shared on my blog. Today I found another tip from that same blog. It is:
For every big energy draining
thing you put on your to do list
schedule something that fills
you back up. Do something
that allows you to recuperate
and fill your energy
reserves. For every bit you
put out you need to get
This tip was meant just for me! My son was abused for 9 years. I read books trying to help him through. My parent's and counselors all disagree with this but it made since to me. Kids who are abuses are on Empty. If you discipline them when they are on empty, it is like trying to get a car to start when there is no gas in it. They need to be filled. This made sense to me! When the counselors and grandparent's went away and I started filling my son, I had no more discipline issues with him. When I read that tip, I not only thought of that but my own life. My parents had me working from morning to night. I always felt drained, sick, etc and I never knew why. Now I know that is why. I have only felt sick one time since my mom died. I realize it was because I had pushed myself as my parent's use to. I am learning the above tip.
#20 and #21 from this pin on pinterest entitled 30 things to start doing for yourself goes along with this tip. It is start listening to your own inner voice and start being attentive to your stress levels and take short breaks! Yes I know start listening to my inner voice also means to start believing in myself, etc.
My adventures do not stop there. I am on 2 challenges:
A) Declutter my home in a year on pinterest. Today's mission is decluttering and properly storing china and silver-I have none.
B) Fit Foods. Learning to savor my meals. That is also my personal month focus.
There are 70 days left until son's winter break. My Fall Fun is to go to an activity at church. Then I read # 22 from the pin entitled 50 ways to practice self care. #22 is do something that you've been putting off for a while. I need to go change my oil! I am going to go do that and while I am over there, I am going to start Christmas shopping. I finally have some ideas. I am thinking of getting candles for my aunts and their husbands, my 2 brothers and sister-in-law, and my cousin. I get me son 3 gifts~one is something he needs. I was thinking of a 1st aide kit. When I visited him last time I fell and he didn't even have a band-aide. I am thinking since he is in this quarter scale tracker pull club where they are building this tractor, he may need a 1st aide kit. I was also thinking of getting me nephew who is in 7th grade Mountain Dew again. He loved it last year. Then I will only have 2 more gifts for my son; 1 gift for my nephew who is 18; 1 gift for my niece in 10th grade; 1 gift for my dad; I am thinking my son's gf also. Least it's a great start thinking wise!
Yesterday I got a email from Jessica Smith TV. I did her 1 mile walk 'n talk: Gratitude + Walk-Walk at home + motivation she sent in her email. Jessica encouraged us to write down 3 things we are grateful for daily to start developing an attitude of gratitude. So here are mine:
I am grateful for in between summer and winter shirts I love.
I am grateful for cell phones. I can call, text, message, snap chat when ever I
want to so I can touch base with my son.
I am grateful for my son.
She also encouraged me to write down a goal:
One goal I have is to make 3 home made meals a day. I am starting with one meal a day.
