Being a trucker's spouse is not easy. Either their gone and your home alone dealing with the day top day or their home every other day running regional or daily home time running local. Sometimes you experience all3 all types in trying to find the right balance of family time, money, benefits and more.
When I first met my now DH he was over the road, gone 3 to 4 weeks at a time and then home 2 to 3 days. We planned our time to cover any needed appointments and to do things like museums, movies, hiking, etc. We made it work. When he got hurt we tried local and it was mostly okay except he missed the road so back out he went. We tried the local route once more before moving to Texas but the 90 minutes daily commute took a toll and we decided to move and try oil field work. That was so so but slow downs lead to money lose and no home. Back to Minnesota and into the truck together we went.
It's been nearly 16 months now. I've seen all 48 states and have shared thousands of pictures. I've crocheted and donated hats to the children's hospital plus made things for family. I cook in the truck and we exercise in the truck. It's a pretty good deal, even with it's challenges.
