Finally mini plateau conquered

Saturday, March 18, 2017

I did so well the first 8 or so weeks on Sparkpeople. I lost 10 lbs and I felt wonderful. I was on track to be 30 or even 40 pounds less by summer. Then, horror of horrors, I stopped losing the weight. It was frustrating to say the least - and you all have experienced the dreaded plateau. This is what I did: I kept logging every bite and every bit of exercise. I noticed a trend - I was eating at the upper end ( and more) of my calorie range. Made a few tweaks, paid more attention to my carb/fat/protein percentages, and exercised more. Weighed in this morning at down .5 lb, but I'll take it. I still have a long way to go - I haven't really decided what my goal weight will be. I'm just trying to drop 10 pounds at a time. Here's a photo of one of the hiking trails from last fall.

Lovely picture! Congratulations on breaking the plateau! I hope you begin to lose again the way you did before.
I am frustrated this challenge. Went back and saw when I lost the most weight and am making adjustments now. I can't exercise at the same intensity right now as before, but have identified the difference in the calories I burned and calories I ate then and plan to set that same calorie deficit now. We shall see.

Good luck to you. We keep working it to find what will work! emoticon emoticon

I plateau too. It seems as suggested by Polskarenia, that we have to trick our bodies. I've done that too and it does work. Best wishes that your weight gets lost and is never found again.

This blog really hit home with me. My weight loss journey seems to be a roller coaster of sorts w/full stops! So glad you busted through the plateau, if even a little. It sure boosts the self-confidence!

I'm with you on the plateaus. My body seems to love tricking me. I do everything right, the weightloss does down, then I ease off, there goes the weightloss again.
    Keep up the good work!

good for you. It's definitely a matter of tweaking exercise or nutrition or BOTH and then eventually things start to move again.
