Significant loss after two small gains
Thursday, October 05, 2017
I was definitely getting frustrated after gaining twice at TOPS. Even though the total of these gains was only 0.9, and came after a 6.6 loss, and my body was / is still adjusting to the plant based eating, I was disappointed. That's not the direction I want to go! Yesterday I finally started doing some research about the bloating / gas I'm dealing with my fifth week of eating this way. A solution was presented that you stop drinking 20 minutes before your meal and do not consume liquid until 1 hour after your meal - so you don't dilute your digestive juices, allowing for greater breakdown of all the excess fibre which is now in my diet, (the root cause of the bloating / gas problems). So I tried this trick yesterday, and last night was the first time in weeks I didn't have a "plant-food baby" belly by late afternoon. Yay! I know alternatively I could seek out a probiotic supplement but would first try to deal with this naturally.
And I was down 3.1 lbs for a new low of 163.7!!! I'm now officially the smallest member of our Chapter, the closest to getting to her goal. Yay, me!
I'm really loving how I feel eating this way, and now that I've started noting my protein with everything I eat to ensure I'm hitting a good daily total, I feel even better. I swear my skin, which was never problematic to begin with, looks even better. (I can't tell with my hair because it's currently bleached and like six different colours a la Twilight Sparkle.)
Our TOPS group has not been making headway with our weight losses this year. I'm a charter member and the leader this year, also the most successful member at the moment. There's a heck of a lot of effort put into this group by myself and a few of the other charter members. So when it would seem that our ladies can't be bothered to pay attention to the materials shared, or bother to challenge themselves with our monthly contest, you start to feel like you're wasting your time. I shared as much last week. Reminded everyone we were there to promote weight loss and that excuses would no longer be tolerated. Be accountable, people! Admit you didn't make a good choice when you ate "whatever", or couldn't put the effort our to exercise even a minimum amount, (heck our minimum amount is ONLY 90 minutes weekly!), but continue to come and act like "it's not your fault". I didn't pick on anyone, I just stated the facts. And was quick to override and call out "excuses". Last night we had an overall loss of 11 lbs and one of our gals even managed 7 pounds herself! So while it was probably hard for some of our ladies to hear, I think it needed to be said and is motivating some members to take a hard look at what they are doing to promote weight loss in their lives. Because you can't expect different results if your habits stay the same!
