Stages of change / Yay for 2017!

Hey everyone! I've been pretty silent for a pretty long time. Since I started nursing school in October I've been a bit preoccupied with my lections, homework, time managing the home life, holidays and not to mention a sick husband who was "out of order" for many weeks.

It's the start of a new year and I was reviewing my progress over 2017. I was able to do this because without fail I weighed myself each and every week and documented it no matter what. The end result was that I lost a total of 5 pounds throughout those 52 weeks. And while that doesn't sound like much, I interpreted it as a HUGE success!

Though a 5 pound loss in itself isn't much to celebrate, I recognize that a lifestyle change has formed and that all year long I made more healthy choices than unhealthy choices. And that, my folks, is what it's all about.

You're not ALWAYS going to pass up that office cake and you're not ALWAYS going to do that workout you intended on doing. But if you strive to make as many healthy choices as possible you're well on your way. Keep a mental scoreboard if you have to where each day you can compare the healthy choices vs unhealthy choices and then reflect on how you feel about the results.

Remember that the Stages of Change model is dynamic and you'll always be floating in and out of different stages. Reach out when necessary, and continue the healthy path that you're already on.
