Burried

Sunday, April 15, 2018

Like so many others, we have experienced blizzard-like conditions this weekend. They were predicting 4 - 8 inches of new snow - as of this morning I'm pretty sure we have about 16, and it's still snowing. This morning I heard this is the 3rd snowiest April on record for Minnesota and by the end of this week we will likely reach 1st place.

This morning I tried to shovel a bit for Daisy but the snow was just too heavy for me without having the proper outdoor clothing, which I didn't want to take the time to find and put on. The snow was so heavy that Daisy could hardly turn around and it was now too high for her to leap over.

So I am very grateful for my dear husband. He went out first thing this morning and cleared our driveway yet again (4th time this weekend so far). Here he is taking a pass to the end of the driveway.

Clearing away the turn around space.

Across the street - you can see that our road, which is a main highway, isn't in the best of shape

You can't really tell but in a lot of spots the snow is almost as high as Daisy's back.

The most frustrating thing is that we aren't going to see above zero temps for awhile either - with more snow coming on Wednesday and again this weekend.

I sure don't want to spend my days thinking about snow but everything is affected. Churches have cancelled their services this morning, stores are closed, even my gym closed early yesterday and won't reopen until mid day. Cars are getting stuck all over the place and there have been multiple accidents with at least 55 people injured badly enough to have to be hospitalized. My choice is to stay home and make the best of it.

So today will be a good day to clean the house, do a couple of exercise tapes, and probably spend some time on the treadmill. I have several books to read and some knitting to finish. I know that eventually the snow will be gone - in the meantime I will do what I can indoors!

Yeah, you have a routine established and then this happens...................breaks your rhythm. Or at least that is what happens to me. I seem out of sync and have to work really hard to get back in rhythm. You're a steady one and you'll be good to yourself and keep to your healthy choices.

After seeing these waves of storms heading across the country and dumping even more snow on so many states, I'm embarrassed to admit that I've been whining about the Northwest rain. It sure seems as if it's been the longest winter ever! So hard to believe it's the middle of April.

I feel for poor Daisy, with her short legs and all the "good" sniffing areas and smells are covered with snow. Let's hope that the universe will reward us all with a glorious summer.

We talked with our son yesterday, he had been out taking care of the sidewalks, while his big dog sat and watched him. I'm with you, staying home is the best when the toads are in terrible shape from all the snow. It is a good day for getting some things done in the house and then sitting and enjoying some reading or project started.

I'm grateful that you have a warm safe home, your sweet husband and Daisy during this snowed-in time. 💝

I almost feel guilty because it's just some spring rain here. Elsewhere people are digging out from piles of snow or cleaning up from terrible tornado damage or dealing with floods and some are even experiencing fires already. Most of us are fortunate to live in the part of the country we are fondest of and learn to just deal with what Mother Nature throws at us. I like that you've settled for Plan B today and are enjoying the indoors. I'm glad your hubby has a snowblower to attack all that snow with. Stay safe and warm.

Staying home sounds like a good plan. We are supposed to get some tonight and tomorrow here in Ohio but nothing like you have

It's just raw and wet here in New York. I don't envy you.
