Here she is with her new trim

Thursday, April 26, 2018

My office window looks out directly to the Big Tree, I can see all of her... well, all of the width of her. She reaches way higher toward the sky than my window allows. She looks a bit sparse, the trim has certainly changed her appearance. But she looks healthier than she has in a long time, and I'm sure once the buds turn into leaves she will fill out nicely.

Here is all that they took out of her yesterday. The truck came by about an hour ago to collect her branches.

Daisy has already adjusted to our early morning walks and she is patiently waiting for me while I get the photos that I wanted. But I'm pretty sure she's thinking "come on mom, we've got places to go and good smells to find".

I'm glad we went out early today, it was so peaceful. The wind has come this afternoon. It's a warm wind but we haven't yet had any rain so there's a lot of dust and dirt flying around. The little pond looked so peaceful with only a hint of snow left to melt. I love how the houses reflect off the water.

The geese are returning a little bit at a time. I haven't seen any flocks of them yet but I've been seeing several pairs. I would have thought it was still a bit cold to be swimming in those ponds but they seem very happy. During yesterday's walk they were on the grass close to the path and Daisy really wanted to make friends!

Today has been a more structured day. I went up to the gym for my Pilates mat class and after we did Melt. Afterwards I am so relaxed, I just love that feeling. I'm going to start a new habit of doing a bit of Melt in the mornings right after I wake up and then once again in the evenings shortly before I go to bed. I'm hoping it helps with some of my little aches and pains - it's also suppose to help restore better sleep. I'm all for that.

Have a lovely evening.

Is the tree a maple? It looks a lot like a tree that graced our backyard when I was a child. Glad you and Daisy enjoyed your early morning walk and I like the reflection of the houses in the pond too.

The tree does look very nice with it's trim. I agree, once the buds turn into leaves the tree will be looking even more majestic.

You tell Daisy to watch out for those geese! Some of them are not very friendly. I got chased by one at age 6 while feeding ducks. A friend of mine's dad really injured himself running backwards away from an angry goose he had no idea was even there until the goose came after him. On a happier note, love seeing reflections in the water. I can't wait to see photos when spring is in full bloom where you are!

Can't wait to see the beautiful big tree all decked out. I'm sure Daisy (and you) will enjoy the shade. What is Melt? Sounds interesting.

I love how 'Maybelle the Maple' tree now looks. I love to name beautiful friends even when they are inanimate. ...although trees are VERY much alive!

We have Myrtle our zoomba...Taz which is short for Tasmanian Devil for our big Sequoia truck, I have 'Slim' my treadmill...the list goes on and on.

I haven't named our new Honda CRV yet...I'm thinking of a REALLY good name for that snappy little number. I just love how she zips around beeping at me because I'm too close to the car in front of me...LOL! Maybe...Nelly the nag? ha..ha!

I'm back to the consignment gallery today. Happy that we sold a big leather loveseat and sofa but a little unnerved that our regular mover can't move it to the customer's house (they are overbooked...as all good movers tend to be down here. So the customers are coming to collect it themselves...this is always a scary situation as they usually know nothing about navigating large furniture.

I gave them some other moving company options...but they want to handle this on their own...hopefully they are bringing some good strong friends! YIKES!

Tomorrow I'm FREE...I get to go to lunch with my great friend Erin and the hubs will be finished with his construction job he has been on all week. I know he milks these jobs to the hilt so that he gets some time off from the consignment gallery. In fact...if the truth be known he's probably already done with the job today but is leaving me thinking he's still working on it.

Ahhhh the sneakiness of these men...at least he is doing extra things to bring in revenue so I can't really complain too much...just some...ha..ha!

Have a great day Kathy..how is the challenge going? Brenda is a great motivational leader!

The few times I've had a professional cut our trees, I've always been shocked by how scrawny they look afterward, and knowing so little about gardening, I always worry whether they'll be green again in the spring. But they always come back even more beautiful than before, with a bushiness that was missing while they were allowed to grow freely. Having just a tiny, tiny yard, I could never have a tree as huge as your Big Tree, which it's clear that you love very much, despite the danger of her releasing dead (and deadly) branches onto your house or over your head. In your case, it was the absolute right thing to do to get her a trim, and I'm sure even she herself is breathing a sigh of relief and will reward you with a bunch of healthy, beautiful, leafy branches this summer. Enjoy!

Your tree will be beautiful when the leaves fill out. The crew did a good job trimming. Your Daisy is a pretty dog. You can almost hear her telling you to COME ON...LETS GET GOING...ENOUGH WITH THE PICTURES!! Glad you are finding benefits from the Melt routine. Hopefully you will get better sleep through the night too. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

At the risk of sounding a little corny, that is one majestic tree, the kind you think of when you hear people talking about Mother Earth. I don't think it's a coincidence that that tree guy showed up when he did, more like serendipity. The before and after pictures are startling, and they did a great job without just whacking away without knowing what they were doing. Please share another photo when she has her leaves.
