Iced Tea

Friday, May 18, 2018

I would imagine many of you are already avid ice tea drinkers. I am not - never have been. For years and years I have gone out to lunch and my friends order all varieties of iced tea - but not me. Water please! Or if it's a very special day I might have a lemonade! Pink lemonade is my favorite.

BUT, during the summer months my gym offers free iced tea if you buy their special glass. It's hard plastic with a screw on lid and a very sturdy straw, and it must hold about 24 ounces. I thought about it last year but since I'm NOT an iced tea drinker I figured it would be a waste of $15 for a glass I would never fill. OH, you can get black tea, green tea or berry tea (and I actually do love green tea and many varieties of herbal tea). Last week after 40 minutes working out on the strength equipment AND 1 hour of Pilates on the reformer, I decided to treat myself to an iced tea. Heck, if I didn't like it, I still had a pretty cool glass.

I LOVED IT! Crushed ice and a rosy red drink inside that totally made my day. So much so that I went back the next day. And I wanted to go to the gym on Thursday just so I could get my iced tea, but I was hurting so much from Tuesday & Wednesday that I decided to see what I could do at home. I had a Red Raspberry tea and a lovely tea pot that Tom bought me on one of our visits to Duluth, MN that I've never even used. A perfect solution - berry tea right here at home. And the most exciting news is that I have other teas I can try.

Who knew a person could get so excited over iced tea. Tomorrow I am back to the gym and you better believe I'll be bringing my new best friend with me for a fill!

I haven't had ice-tea in years and now you have me craving it! Tea is so good for you too. How fun that your gym offers it for free if you buy the glass. That's a nice treat.

How great that you got a new thing to enjoy! I drink iced tea in the hot summer months, decaf or herbal because I drink such big glasses of it. 🌻

My drink of choice is ice water with a lemon twist in it. DH is the tea lover...he ALWAYS orders iced tea when we go out and I'm kind of surprised he doesn't make up a pitcher for here at home also. I've been getting unsweet green tea at the grocery store and it's pretty refreshing...sometimes I'll pour a splash of pomegranate juice (also unsweet) in it.

I LOVE the idea that they give you these little perks at the gym to keep you coming...very, very savvy marketing I must say. If you must have your tea sweet try stevia which is a natural sweetener...the fake stuff is AWFUL for your health and can actually make you CRAVE more sugar. I cringe when I see my girlfriends reach for the pink or blue packets and try my best to keep my yap shut in telling them that they are KILLING themselves slowly.

Try turmeric tea...it will take you a bit to get used to the taste...maybe a tinge of honey in it...but it's SO good for you!

I'd be a lot more excited about the cup than the tea. I had one like that from a restaurant, and I used almost daily for about 2 years until it fell apart. I have to be in the right mood for tea, it's just not something I really enjoy most of the time.

Enjoy that tea and the new glass also. I have to be in the mode for tea. And different place different tea. It is never the same. Some are darn right horrible. Some are way to sweet, might just as well have a pop.

Welcome to becoming a iced tea enthusiast . Nothing like a great glass of iced tea to sip while working out--refreshing for sure. I drink a lot of iced tea, especially in the summer, I haven't desired pop as us northerners call soda for a long time. Have a wonderful weekend.

I remember the first time I had iced tea travelling in the U.S. I took a drink and just about spit it out. In Canada ice tea is sweet, this one was just plain cold tea. I thought it was awful.. LOL As much as we are alike there are some differences and ice tea is one of them. Enjoy your drink and emoticon on the exercise.
