emoticon Wedding is 3 months away!

So I definitely have used Sparkpeople over the years to lose weight -- from a high of 190 in 2009, to a low of 144 or so a few years ago. I've been fluctuating between 160-165 for the past 2 years or so now, which is a little on the heavier side. Makes my BMI >25.0 so "overweight", and makes some of my clothes fit a little too snug for comfort.

So with a wedding on the horizon, it was the kick in the pant I needed to really take control and get back down to 145-150# or so which is a weight I feel confident at. My clothes fit great, I feel fit, etc etc.

So May 28th I really started taking a handle on my nutrition/intake. I have always been good about exercising 4 or so times per week, so I knew that the weight loss would have to come with control of my diet. Just using Sparkpeople -- as usual! Sparkpeople works! It works, if you work!

With a goal of about 1lb/week in weight loss, Sparkpeople told me to consume up to 1550 calories/day. I've been SO good at sticking to the range, it is even surprising me. I take in about 1450-1550 calories/day for 5-6 days a week and then 1-2 days a week I might "cheat" and have around 1800-2200. This is generally because of 1 "cheat meal". I don't do "cheat days". Instead, if I know I have something planned (ie: a World Cup viewing party/grill out!) then I will have a typical breakfast, typical lunch, and then "splurge" on my 3rd meal. BUT I make sure I'm not splurging so much that I'm "gaining" weight that day. Because even if I have 1800-2200 calories that I've consumed in a day, I'm still losing weight, because I probably burned off that much in my day anyway. This allows me to have fun and have social events -- bookclub, date night, party w/ friends -- but not feel guilty or feel like "Omg I gained so much weight because of that".

So far I've lost 8.5 pounds in the past 7.5 weeks! Yahoo! I have definitely stuck with it and am right on track for my goal of 1lb/week of weight loss.

So from 164.5 on May 28th, to 156.0 July 18th, I am proud of what I've accomplished thus far, and the habits I have formed the past ~8 weeks.

8.5 pounds down, 6.0-11.0 to go! (goal weight of 145-150# or so).
