Been A While

Wednesday, August 01, 2018

So my last blog was back in May and I had just talked about being diagnosed with arthritis in my spine. A lot has happened since. I began physical therapy and did that for 2 months. Although it is about 90% better, I am not 100% and I hope that workers comp will continue to work with me so that I can get to 100%. I still have a nerve that is being pinched, I think because I can't sit for more than 30 minutes at a time before a spot on the back of my thigh and upper buttocks area starts to hurt and my job consists of sitting at a desk (I'm a dispatcher). My right calf feels like I did a million calf raises and I can't move my toes on my right foot the same way I can on my left, and... if I try standing on my toes, my right foot involuntarily rolls to the outer part of my foot because I can't get my toes to work properly. Probably not the biggest problem in the world but it does make walking long distances an issue. I go back to the doctor on Friday so we will see what he suggests from there. I really loved my physical therapist but don't know if workers comp will go for a third round. They tried talking my therapist down to 5 or 6 sessions for my second round and he told them no. I'll just have to wait and see what the doctor says on Friday.

The bright side to all of this is that my spine starts to stiffen if I don't work it every few days so it's almost a guarantee now that I will be doing some kind of physical activity throughout the week. I just joined the YMCA in my town because I get to go for free with my health insurance. I have my second personal training session today. I would love to get more but that costs money and I am too far in debt at the moment for that. One day, maybe, I'll see the light at the end of the debt tunnel! Good thing I have my mom to help me. I literally gave her all my credit cards and told her to keep them so I can pay them off and therefore have them in the event an emergency comes up. I'm not good at adulting! Hahahahah!

Hope everyone is doing well!

I don't think many of us are all that good at adulting. LOL I know I am not.

I am glad to hear that physical therapy is helping you. Does the YMCA offer water aerobics? That would probably be really good for your back and leg since you will be able to work the muscles without the harsh impact. A lot of people with mobility issues benefit from water exercise.
