Winter Blues Are Coming ... Or Are They?

Thursday, November 08, 2018

Tuesday came with a lot of cold rain and some wind. Wednesday the rain was gone, but sustained wind was about 25 mph and cold. A lot of leaves came down. It has not been a very nice or beautiful Fall this year here in Western Michigan. But today, Thursday, no rain and no wind, no sun either. But a fairly mild day, so I got outside and raked leaves and trimmed flowers for 2 hours. Other than the leaves, winterizing is complete. All flower pots, hanging baskets, yard pretties and wind chimes, lawn furniture, etc. are put away for the winter. Roses are covered as well. It is so sad.

I am not a winter person. I don't like any outdoor activities. I can drive in the snow fine, but the other idiots who think they can drive the same way they do on dry roads are a different story. Everyone thinks something bad won't happen to them. It only happens to the other guy, the one on the news. Even a 4x4 can end up in the ditch or slam into another vehicle. In Michigan we do not get very much sun in the winter and that makes everyone cranky. Including me. One has to find something to do. A way to alleviate the gloomy days and moods that set in after Christmas and New Years.

So I got myself a membership at the YMCA. There is a track to walk or jog around and all the machines and weights. And 2 pools with Water Aerobics (which I love) and a river with current. Also a couple of hot tubs :). I would like to try Yoga and looking at the classes/schedules, they have an adult drop in badminton class. I think I could handle badminton lol Hoping to meet some new friends as well as beat the winter blues and become healthy. I need to really work on consistency in everything I do.

Well, I will post more as I get started on my journey.
