Day 59: Workout Buddies

So Fritzy and I have really become great workout buddies. He has made his own Spark account now, he is CuteKittenCat, you can find him on my page, he is trying his best to exercise to get stronger and improve his healthy habits. I think his enthusiasm is so great and he will grow up to be healthy and positive and a great goal setter. He is also doing chores in exchange for an allowance now since he says he is "a big boy now." He is really doing great!! He is lifting 7 lb weights, we did a strength training workout together last night and then this morning we did a core workout together and working out with a buddy, which I have never done before, was so fun!! He pushes me to do more than I would've done otherwise and I encourage him to get up early, to get sleep when he needs it, and to do healthier habits like brushing his teeth and eating healthier food. So we are great health and exercise buddies.
So eating has become a positive thing for me rather than being disordered and a source of stress. I have a good relationship with food now and I eat to fuel my workouts and as a source of energy now. I decided to no longer count calories as I am burning so many calories being active and I am eating when I am hungry and eating food as a source of energy to fuel me to be stronger and do more that counting calories seemed unnecessary. So I am just eating what feels good and feels right and making healthy choices.
Exercise is going so great. As I said I work out with Fritzy on the weekends and I had planned to take a rest day yesterday as I was really sore but then Fritzy convinced me to do another strength training workout and I was really glad I did! I used 5 lb weights and he used 7 lb and I was strong enough with the 5 lb weights to do the whole workout. Then this morning I was feeling sore but I just had us do a core workout to focus on different muscles and I noticed that my core is getting much stronger, too! I had been worried that only my arms and legs were getting stronger and that my core wasn't, but I could definitely tell a difference from when I first started doing core workouts. I am planning on getting an ab roller next week so that we can really focus on those abs. I bought a jump rope this weekend for cardio workouts but have to wait to use it until my ankle is all healed. I have been wanting a jump rope for a long time so I was thrilled to get a weighted jump rope for only 5 dollars. I had wanted to get a kettlebell but the one they had was only 5 lbs and I had wanted something more like 15 pounds so I got the jump rope instead.
No soda and no cigarettes are going well, there's been a lot of stress around here lately and I still didn't smoke. My grandpa fell and hurt his leg and now he can't walk so we've all been worried about him, but I haven't smoked at all despite the stress. Fritzy and I are going grocery shopping today for some healthy groceries and we made some healthy chocolate chip muffins but when Fritzy found out they were healthy he had a fit. He is still not happy about eating healthy. He hasn't come around to the idea of eating healthy yet, but I think he will eventually.
