Checking in...Daughters weekend

Monday, April 08, 2019

Doing well here. On Track with Keto and holding my own. Would still like to drop 10 lbs but that's going slow. Walking or running every day. Have started a 2019 challenge and also a Spring Streak challenge. These are both online activity challenges. I like having a goal to work towards and since I haven't picked a Half yet this year this is working. I have been doing a lot of training with Dewey. Right now it is leach work and a few games to work on different areas.

The cows are leaving today and going back to their home. This will open up my running path which has been blocked by fence and cows. Forcing me to walk and run on some pretty uneven surfaces. I am positive my ankles have gotten stronger but my times have been real slow. I have enjoyed watching the new life. This special calf is so lovely.

Took my daughter away for a weekend to a AKC dog show. (really is something I believe I want to become involved with.) Was a wonderful special weekend. Just the two of us with plenty of talk and laughter. Never go to a Chinese buffet at 2pm..... I feel so blessed to have had that special time with her. I pray she continues her healing path and we can build on our relationship.

Most of our photos are of us squinting into the sun. This has Chimney Rock in the background.

I called about a part time job working at a kennel where they breed little Westies. Since calling I have had my second thoughts about whether I really want the work even if it is part time. It would be one day a week. Cleaning kennels..... I don't mind the work but then the man asked if I would be willing to wash his truck......... That gave me the feeling that he wants labor for more than just his dogs. DH says he has plenty of vehicles I could wash around here. Pray he finds someone else. I have just been feeling that I want to do more. May have to find other volunteer work.

Hope everyone is having a great April!

So happy you had a good time w/your DD. Hmmm .. . that job @ the kennel sounds a bit 'iffy'.

The calf is good looking. Nice markings. Glad your running path is being freed up and you're enjoying your challenges, work with Dewey and time shared with your daughter. If you're offered the job, you're permitted to decline it. It's okay to say, "No, Thank you."

Take care and happy to hear you are holding your own.

I'm glad to read you got to spend some one on one time with your daughter, and that all went well with that. Also that you and her are working on making your relationship stronger. That is good news.

Volunteering is something I'm just getting into. I've been retired 3 years now and I'm still not ready to get fully involved in anything. I've started volunteering helping seniors navigate through the Medicare ins and outs. Our state, Michigan has a program call MMAP run through the state and federally funded. It helps seniors know their benefits, help them if they need it and help the navigate through all the up and downs of getting the right help they need. It's very involved, and I'm taking it slow, because I worked in a very stressful job in the healthcare industry. I'm not ready to jump back in the rat race of that.

I want to just enjoy and that's what I am doing. Not being responsible for anything I don't choose to do. I know people think I'm being lazy, but that's how I want things for now and it seems that I am always having to justify how I feel. Oh well, that's my problem.

Enjoy training Dewey, and the more you work with him the more he'll learn. Take care and have a super week.

Love that pretty little calf, but glad you'll have your running path/route available again. Dewey looks happy with his new role, and I'm trusting the volunteer balance will be worked out. emoticon

Washing his truck seems a little out of line but because of our drama I am more on guard. Is there another animal hospital or shelter verses him? Red flags! Your daughter looks like you both beautiful people. She has found her way home in more ways than one. Worth the heartbreaking moments if it got her to the breaking point of being open for help. Tough love prevailed. What about working a city market? Reading program thru your library? Small animal day at your farm? Taking your dog to a children’s hospital? You have so many life experiences to share!
