Casualties of getting healthy

Went on our hill today to do a chore that I had been putting off - slipped and banged my knee, and now I've got a big bruise.

Then took the dog for a hike on the fire road - slipped (again) and went down on my hands, and now one of my wrists hurts. Not enough to see the doctor, just enough to hurt my pride.

To top it off, it was hotter than I had expected, so I ended up flagging down DH for a ride home the last little bit. I thought it was better to be embarrassed than to suffer heatstroke.

All of these obstacles make me feel old!

But I'm forging ahead anyway, and as I get back in shape I'm sure these setbacks will become less frequent. At least I hope so!

Notes to self: Use sunscreen, wear a hat and hiking boots (rather than tennies with no tread), drink plenty of water, and walk later in the day (not between 10am-2pm) until the days are cooler.

And don't give up! It will get easier!
