Make this a December to Remember

A new painting is in the works. I had to put the waterfall aside for now. That had started out as the background to another subject and it took over so I need to reimagine the entire image so that it works.
In the mean time, I'm working on a painting of monk seals. This is just the beginning stages of the painting and I love it already. Every painting has its challenges that are different from any other that I've done. Every time I pick up a paint brush I'm stepping out on a ledge which leads to that leap of faith that what I'm doing will work and work well. Sometimes it doesn't, I'll be honest. However, the more often I take that leap of faith, the more often magic happens with my work, and my life.
December of all the months in the year allow us to open ourselves up to believing that a leap of faith can be a good thing. We're all nicer to each other. We expect to see "holiday spirit" wherever we go. We believe in the spirit of Christmas as a tangible thing. It's a time when we give to others not expecting anything in return, and often remember those that are less fortunate as well.
This year, make it a December to remember. Do something nice for your neighbor. Believe that good things will happen and make that a daily ritual by stepping out on that ledge in a way that is meaningful to you.
Me? I plan to handle this season with grace. It's always hectic for us here on the farm with both macadamia nuts and coffee harvesting in full swing as well as running a retail business. However, I can choose how to respond to the stimulus that comes my way and this month I'm meeting it with a smile and a wave. I have so much to be thankful for this year and I want to honor that during this holiday season!
