Better Weigh In & 100 Days of Weight Loss & Decluttering & Restrictions

Saturday, May 08, 2021

Happy dance, the scale is cooperating. I am looking forward to the 150's soon.

It's been a couple of years or so since I last did 100 Days of Weight Loss by Linda Spangle. I learned a lot from it and a refresher will be good. The Spark 100 Days of Weight Loss team will start the book at the end of the month. Got my book and I am ready.

My wrist is improving after taking Naproxen for a few days and yesterday Dr. Google advised a splint, so I am using a tensor bandage. It feels much better today.

Busy afternoon.

1) I am potting plants and establishing the herb garden
2) Preparing food for a couple sick with COVID. She is in the hospital and he is at home.
3) Preparing gifts for my friend with a broken pelvis - food and potted plant.
4) This week's challenge is social connections so I am phoning these friends too. No in person visits.
5) The decluttering challenge is over but I am motivated to keep going. My goal is to do the rooms in order starting with the downstairs at the front door and spreading out from there. I will do 10 minutes a day, but likely it will more once I get started. Major projects along the way - my clothes, my activity room (AKA the blue room) and the garage.

Update - Across Canada we are taking COVID very seriously. In BC we are wearing masks, mandated to staying in our regions, no indoor dining, no indoor gatherings, quarantines, work places with exposure closed, fines, etc. I think Nova Scotia has the tightest controls - masks, closed provincial and city borders, shop for essentials only, at-home learning, police road checks, fines for violations, etc.

How is it going in your area?

Yay! The scale is moving in the right direction!

I see that a couple of the store I shop at have taken the Mask Required sign off the doors, and people are walking all over with out them. Right now, we have so many people that are choosing not to get the shot, and I fear that all is may be coming back, and this time it has readjusted and will be worse than the first time around. I don't know what is wrong with people, got a SIL that is refusing it, and you will not see me going to her house.

Oh my, what will make people take their health and that of others seriously? Vaccines are readily available to anyone who wants one here in Utah. And yet ...

Thanks for the information about what Canada is doing in response to COVID. I am in New York state. Each state is handling things differently down here

Congrats on you continued progress. I'm glad your wrist is improving.

The good news in our area is that all age 16 and above are eligible for vaccinations and we have ample supplies. My entire family has been vaccinated.

The bad news? Less than 50% of our population will accept the shot.
We are a Covid denying, mask resistant, precaution ridiculing, anti science area of the US.

Our pastor had to send a letter last week reminding people that a mask is required in church and must not be removed once inside. Today he had to announce that anyone NOT wearing a mask was not respecting the "Love Thy Neighbor" message of the gospel.

    Very sad.

Good for you! Great plans! Getting a robot vacuum made me clean up my bedroom. I love it! Everything is off the floor and there is no dust under my bed! Now to clear off the top of the dresser and side table.
Enjoy your garden and a day outside.

Lynn- AWESOME news on the scale!!! I need to get mine moving again. I've been preoccupied with too many things... time to declutter my mind and work my body more... I have never gotten all the way through 100 DWL... I will join you at the end of this month.

Wow glad you are doing so well on the weight loss. I am not but that is okay. Take care.

We are keeping close to home although we have our shots. Our plan is to be cautious until later in the summer

It is so quiet here in Nova Scotia and folks are still lining up to get tested and appointments for vaccination are rapidly being filled. I have enough groceries to last a full two weeks; the curbside pickups at grocery stores are overwhelmed with waiting times of close to two weeks so I will just take advantage of senior's hour when needed (7-8am). I seldom meet anyone on my daily walks, a shame as we are encouraged to be outdoors and getting exercise. I'm not an indoor kind of person so being out is essential for me. We will get through this.
Good plan to keep decluttering, it's the K.I.S.S. formula for a good life!

How kind of you to connect with friends and supply the needs for those with COVID and your injured friend.

Non-essential shops and outdoor seating in restaurants opens on 19th. We get our second AZ jab on 15th. In the Pyrenees Orientales where we are, people wear masks everywhere, it’s the rule once you leave your home. Now able to travel more than 10km from home too...

Ontario was supposed to have police checks etc as well, but the policies weren't scientifically based and there was so much push-back that even though police stations said they weren't on board! It's a mess, but the numbers are slowly decreasing...

Glad to hear that the weight loss journey is going well! Re-visiting things that worked in the past can help to keep us going, or sometimes finding a new way to look at things or a new perspective which is what I'm doing. My focus right now though is now more on maintenance rather than losing too much more. I'm still interested in losing a few more pounds but I'm not in a big hurry and I can see a slow downward trend.
The decluttering challenge got me working on a storage area that is in serious need of attention. Now I'll have to try to keep myself motivated to try to keep plugging away at it a bit at a time but 10 minutes doesn't begin to make a dent - just long enough to make a mess most of the time! I'm aiming for maybe up to an hour once a week.
emoticon on making the meals and gifts for the friends who are ill.
No visiting here in Ontario either, or getting together, golf courses are closed along with many other outdoor recreation areas aside from playgrounds. Virtually all businesses are closed - restaurants are takeout only as well. Numbers are receding a bit but are still way higher than a year ago or in the fall.
I do still travel to my mom's once a month - have yet to be stopped - about 90 minutes away to provide care for her and respite for my sister. Unfortunately her knee replacement surgery has been cancelled - need the beds for possible COVID cases from the south unfortunately.
Hope that the wrist heals quickly.

Congratulations on your ongoing progress! emoticon emoticon

I suspect a local restaurant may have experienced a COVID outbreak because it has temporarily closed which is something that has occurred throughout the pandemic.

We have not dined indoors in well over a year even when restrictions have been eased to allow it. We've also gone in and out of travel restrictions. Sometimes being restricted to our county and other times being restricted to our region.

At present, our restrictions are the least restrictive they've been since the pandemic started.

Many people are not wearing masks here but they never did and have no reason to. They don't social distance. Probably don't wash their hands much either from the looks of a lot of them. LOL. Seniors are well vaccinated and the death rate in them is much less. It is on the rise in young people.

Seeing as I live in the same area as you we are still pretty much in isolation other than necessities.
