I got my fitbit flex last week. I have been using everyday and really like it. I like trying and beat my husbands step count every day. Also I was not aware of my restless sleeping and while I DON'T have that corrected yet, I am happy to have a way to document it to help my doc serve me better.

Hi, I'm new to fitbit, just bought the flex, and put it on for the first time after work tonight. I will be interested to see how it compares with the BodyMedia Fit that I paid a monthly subscription for for about a year... it made my arm break out, I'm anticipating NOT having that problem with the flex.

It's a whole new world of technology out there these days!

Hi! I just got the fitbit flex and so far so good! It is interesting to see when I am the most active during the day. Tonight I am going to try the sleep mode. Love that I can check my progress on my phone.

Hello! I just joined this team a few seconds ago. I've been on SP for about 6 and a half years, and have been at or near my goal weight for about 5 and a half years. I just got a FitBit Flex last week (was a surprise from my hubby) and I love it so far.

I'm still getting used to it and learning about what all I can do at the FitBit site. I look forward to getting to know you all.

Hi- just received my fitbit one last night and am excited to see how it will aid in my journey. It's an interesting device and I'm going through the learning curve of learning how to use it.

Hi everyone - I am a longtime member and recent slacker here on SparkPeople. I have gained back everything I lost last year and then some. =( I decided it was time to get back on track! I bought myself a fitbit one to help me get started and stay motivated. I am not quire sure how to work all the bells and whistles yet, so any tips are appreciated. I look forward to 'stepping it up' with you all!

I like the fact that the activity and exercise from the fitbit automatically goes to the SP fitness tracker. In the past that has been something I did not fill in consistently.

Food-wise it looks like fitbit bumps up the calories. Yesterday it was about 60 calories higher. And some of the nutritial info, like fiber, does not sync eventhough that is something I track in SP.

I do like the sleep information I get from fitbit.

Just got my FitBit on Friday. Not thrilled with the SP and FitBit synching, but I think I can be careful about what i enter on SP and stay ahead of it.

Really excited to understand my activity and sleep levels!

Right there with you. Received the fitbit last night, charged it and put it on this morning. I like the dashboard, but I am not sure how well Fitbit and SP play together. Seems like they are slightly off on calories eaten - don't understand that since I only enter in SP. I have been on SP for a couple of years and honestly sometimes find it hard to stay motivated even with the strong communities here.

Searching the fitbit groups was awful - no rhyme or reason to the order and no actual way to search. I work for a school district so I searched the forums for teachers and found a group related to education. Anyone know a better way to search. I would like to find a group based on geography, but no luck so far.

So far I am seeing this can be a powerful tool.

Sandylynn, thanks for sharing. That merry-go-round weight cycle has caught many of us many times. I also have the Fitbit Zip and, I too, wear it to bed at night! emoticon I even wrap it in plastic and take it in the pool with me.

This is a journey, longer for some of us than for others. I'm grateful to those who have reached their weight goal and are hanging around in maintenance to give the rest of us a hand up. I'd like to do that too...have to hit that point first though.

Have a great day!

I love reading everyone's comments and stories. I absolutely love my Fit-bit and check it numerous times a day. It was really a reality check for me to realize that even when though I worked out 5 days a week for years, I still wasn't always getting 10K steps. Well, now I do. I've really noticed a strength gain in my hips and legs.

Hi FitBit Users...my name is Sandylynn & I'm a wife of almost 36 years, two kids & two grandkids. I live in Wisconsin & am interested in reading my Bible, knitting, crocheting, making jewelry, selling Avon, and spending time with my hubby. I'm a member of TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly), CMA (Christian Motorcyclists Association, and Curves. This past January, I weighed the most I'd ever weighed in my life...410 pounds. That shocked me into finally deciding that I needed to use all the skills I'd learned over the years of being a member of TOPS & use them to lose weight. I'd been a member of TOPS since 1994, yet I ended up gaining over 100 pounds over the years, even while learning good, solid methods of losing my weight in a sensible manner. In January, I decided to put those methods to work & to do all I could to get to my goal weight of 180 pounds. While that weight will still have me in the obese category, it's still a LOT better than where I'm at now, and is what I weighed when I got married. I feel that if I can get to that weight, I may be able to go to the 140 pounds that my doctor wants me to weigh. We'll see. This past Saturday (24th), I got my Fitbit that I ordered after seeing an ad for it on an ad that SparkPeople had on my facebook page. At first, I thought it was just another step counter...I had two of them. But then I read what people had to say about it & I was very interested in seeing if this was a tool that I could work into my current program. When I got it & set it up, I was really encouraged, especially when it told me how much I had already eaten & how much I had left. The other day, I ate all the calories I was supposed to have by lunch time & the only way I could eat any more was if I exercised, so I went to Curves, and had a really good workout...and I was able to eat a small chef salad for supper. It has kept me on track ever since, so I am greatly encouraged that it will fit nicely into my daily efforts to lose weight. I weighed in at TOPS on Tuesday morning & was thrilled to see a 4 1/4 pound loss for the week! Currently, my program consists of weighing & measuring ALL the food I eat, and getting in various kinds of workouts, though not always all of them every day. Some days, I just make sure I get at least 2,000 steps in...which is more than I used to get. I have osteoarthritis in both knees & it's difficult to move at times, but I push myself to do so. Then, I have a Freedom Cycle that I pedal for about an hour 3 times a week. I have a Shake Weight that I use as a dumbbell & do that for 10 minutes on each arm for an hour (alternating arms) every other day. Since I can't walk outside very far, I walk in my house, walking from the front door to my back door several times (it's a whole 20 steps one way!). I have other health issues that I'm trying to overcome (arrhythmia, high blood pressure & a pinched nerve in my back), but I'm hoping that losing weight will either eliminate those, or at best make them less of a problem. Since January (and before I got my Fitbit), I managed to lose 50 pounds! I'm sure that my Fitbit will help me to lose the rest of my weight. I don't come on SparkPeople every day, so I may not read any responses to this posting right away. I'll stop in when I can. Life has me very busy right now & some days, I don't even turn my computer on. I've read a few of the posts here & am encouraged at what I've read about the Fitbit. I have the Zip that attaches to my bra, which I even wear to bed, in case I get up during the night (I can see the time on my chart). Yep, even those few steps are important to my daily total. I hope to be back soon & meet you all.
emoticon

Love, Sandylynn

Sparklinghope, thanks and good to know. I was going to go today but I had my granddaughter (still do), and also realized that I didn't get my glasses until the 10th and have a few more days to get a refund. (Assuming they don't start counting from the day you order--which you be a bit odd since you can't return what you don't have.)

Angforq, glad you're back! Don't quit!

Violinwoman, which Fitbit do you have? Why can't you wear it at work? I have the Zip and can clip it to my bra, totally out of sight. I'm sorry about the loss of your mom, but you are right on target with wanting not to develop similar problems and wanting to set a good example for your daughter.

Murlene, welcome. It's a great place to be. The journey is not the same for each of us, but we can be here for each other to encourage and support.

Welcome back, Beckles! Stick around!

I'm tired of the heat...for quite a while we had an abundance of rain--wish we had some back about now. Western part of the state is still suffering from drought.

Have a pleasant evening, everyone!

I am starting again, for about the 12 time. My daughter got herself and me a fit bit zip for mothers day and we have been having fun with them. I am up to 4000 steps a day. Part of that is as of today, I am 2 months out of knee surgery and having a very hard time with it. I had 2 tears, they were fixed, but I am bone on bone in both knees and lots of arthritis. I am doing some work at the Y, and also walking as much as I can.
The first time I did sparkpeople, I lost about 20 pounds was so excited, but then slowly gained it all back. I need to lose this, so I can get the knee replacments I need, but hope to put them off for a few years.
I am hoping to become an active member.
I don't see where fitbit and sparkpeople can sync the food. I love the sparkpeople app on the phone for the food, but I don't really want to pay. I remember when it was free.

Hey all! My name is Sarah, and I'm the proud new owner of a FitBit One!

I've been thinking of getting a pedometer for a while, and have experimented with pedometer apps for my phone, but didn't find anything I liked. I'm planning a big vacation to Disney World in a few weeks and wanted something that would help me keep track of how much I walk around the parks. After seeing so much about the FitBit here on SP, I decided to do some research and then decided to purchase one!

I'm really looking forward to using the FitBit to get a better sense of my activity levels over the course of the day - I pace around a lot and go up and down stairs a lot, so i think something that tracks that will be really helpful. I'm also really looking forward to using the sleep tracker.

I'm having a little bit of trouble connecting it to my computer (the program freezes when I try to log in), so I haven't connected it to my SP account yet, but I emailed customer service (I wish I could just call them!) and hopefully that will be resolved soon.

Sarah

Murlene here. I've been using a Fitbit for a couple of years. My goal starting next Tuesday will be 12,000 steps a day. Right now, being home with the kids, I consider it a miracle if I get 10,000 (which I did yesterday). I'm excited about being a part of Sparkpeople and am looking forward to the journey.

Hi! I just bought a FitBit on Saturday and am really enjoying it so far. My only frustration is that I am not able to wear it at work, so my step count is lower on weekdays. :-/ My job is mostly sedentary computer work, so it's not like it would be that many steps, but it would still be nice to get credit for them! I was impressed with how well the FitBit page integrates with SparkPeople--I was wondering about having to double-enter everything, but now I see that the pages just pull everything over. Awesome!

I'm 35 years old, about 80 pounds overweight, and have a three-year-old daughter. My mom died last summer after struggling for years with heart disease, diabetes, and mobility problems. She was obese, and I think that fed the other problems, which in turn fed the obesity. I want to avoid perpetuating that same cycle myself, and also act as an example to my daughter of how to care for oneself.

I also had very bad experience with eyeglass world and went elsewhere. Do you have a spare pair? If you do I would suggest getting your money back before the 30 days runs out.

Egminga, welcome back. It can be frustrating during the wait to lose the weight, but you're here and that's great!!

Clint, according to your ticker, you've come quite a distance already. Congratulations and keep up the good work.

I'm having such a time trying to get Eyeglass World to get my glasses right. My 30 days will be up on the 30th--the period where I can get a refund--and I'm just about to that place. The bifocals are wrong and they have the glasses so tight that they hurt my face--all trying to get the bifocals to sit right. I've never done business with them before (and probably won't again.) I've worn glasses for 54 years (bifocals for 26) and never had problems other than normal adjustment issues. I'm not a complainer, so this is way out of my comfort zone anyway.

I was a member of sparkpeople for several years but just got to where I just wasn't committed and felt so overwhelmed that I left sparkpeople. Well here I am 2 years later and fully committed to becoming a healthier me. I got my fitbit in May. I really have felt motivated to make my goals and around the first of July finally got myself on track. I set some goals I felt wouldn't be so hard that I would give up but yet would challenge me to push myself to move more and eat less. I have 6 weeks continuous weight loss going for week 7 at weigh in this Thursday. I am looking forward to being more active here in SparkPeople than I was before. I am looking forward to getting to make new friends here. Here is the link to my fitbit.

Hi everyone- I just got my FitBit Flex and I love it! I initially got it due to a project I am working on and felt that I needed to be conversant in it for my patients. I had no idea how much I would love it myself.
I found about this team through one of my accountability buddies- Thanks!

Hi, just got my fitbit zip today. Linked it up to SP and it's really cool to see it cross over like this. I'm testing the fitbit food log too. I'm not sure how to share my user id over there though. Perhaps someone can share that info. I'll look around and see if someone has mentioned it. Here's to more steps and activity!!!

Hi All:

I've had my Fitbit since February when I received it as a gift from my son. I remember to wear it almost daily. I will be adding some of you as friends. I look forward to seeing how we all progress.

MJ, I'm sure someone has that kind of fitbit--I don't. I hope at some point to be able to afford one--not in the budget right now.

I don't have the flex, but I've been able to bag my clip-on and wear it when I do my Silver Sneakers (water class) at the Y. I draw all the air out of the bag, fold it over, and zip it into a pocket on the back of my swim trunks. I've been doing it since the first of June...and it still works just fine. I admit I was a bit scared to try it the first time though because it's more expensive than other pedometers I've had.

I'm a water aerobics instructor in Alaska. Wanted to try a fitbit for a long time but couldn't find a waterproof one. Then I saw the fitbit flex, and it seemed ideal. It's waterproof; it's worn on the wrist; it's really unobtrusive to me and to the general public. I've had mine for about 2 weeks now, and am quite happy with it.

Hello, I'm FitKiz. I'm a mother of four daughters and I've been on Spark People for nearly two years now. I got my Fitbit Zip for Christmas and now that my youngest is a whole month old, I'm back to using it ant setting step goals. My goals are modesst, for now, I'm starting with a goal of 5K daily consistently then I'll work my way to 10K. After that, we'll see how far I can go.

Only you can.

Hello, my name is Barrie. I live in Northern Virginia. I am married and have a teenager :). I purchased my fitbit as part of a gym promotion in May. The first person who walked around the Capital beltway in 10 days (I belive) won a free massage. I got so caught up in tracking my steps that I went around the beltway almost 4 times during the contest period. I won the massage:). Recently, my gym sponsored a contest where the first 10 people to post 76K steps during a 7 day period won a free wine tasting! I won the wine tasting along with a few of my friends-i had 156K steps. I am training for the Army Ten Miler, so my goal is to walk 10,000 steps before any running is done.
I look foward to meeting new walkers/runners/joggers wtih fitbits (or Mr. Fitty as I call mine).

Hi my name is Toni - I'm 42, married and a mom of three girls (20, 17 and 4). I bought a FitBit Ultra used on craigslist.org and LOVE LOVE IT! Both sites work so well together and I love that it tracks my sleep and all the walking I do just doing my job plus all the walking I do for FUN!

I've set a goal to do 10,000 steps a day - easy when I do my lunch walks but not so easy when I don't. I try to vary walking and bike riding depending on opportunity. I'm currently in a weight loss challenge and am trying to lose a total of about 30 pounds (have about 23 left to go). Every little (Fit)bit helps, right? emoticon

Hi! My name is Sam. I have been using my new Flex for about a week now. Am loving the sleep report. My rest is not as restful as I thought it was... :)

I do find the "calorie burn" over estimated. I did an experiment last year with my HR monitor (doesn't work anymore) I wore it for 24 hrs to see what my standard day was like and I burn about 1600 during my awake hours, without a workout and about 400 during sleep. That brings it to a total of approx 2000 but Fitbit has it over by 200-300, sometime more.

Another interesting point, it doesn't read my elliptical workout as very active minutes. Maybe because there is no impact?

Hi, my name is Lori. I bought a Fitbit today. Just got it synced with the site. Ready to start tracking all of my steps starting Monday morning. I live in Las Vegas I am 46 yrs old. I need to lose 35 lbs. I have lost 30 prior to joining SP. My motivation and consistency have been lacking. I am hoping the FitBit will be what I need to spark my interest and get these 35 lbs gone.

I like that they send you an e-mail to tell you to replace the battery in the Fitbit!

Hello, I'm Donna from Missouri. I am 46 and have been gaining weight steadily for the last 20 years. I have decided (years ago actually) that my weight must go so I ordered the Fitbit.

I received my Fitbit one 2 days ago. I like it. I tend to get bored easily so I'm hoping that a visual computer gadget will help keep me motivated. I have set Oct. 14, 2016 to be at my goal weight. I believe that would be a wonderful 50th birthday gift to myself. Now it's one day at a time; one step at a time....

Hello, I just purchased my Fitbit and can not figure out how to work it. A bit frustrated, my hope is to find some understanding of what it can do. With that said I am starting from square one today after fracturing my fibula last May. Have struggled with my weight for years, goal is to return to healthy habits and I know the weight will follow. I am 56, live on the eastern side of Iowa. My children all grown with families of there own.
