emoticon Glad to have ya here! The others are right, we are very loving and supportive but we don't use the word diet too much. We make 1 small change at a time, like watching the portion sizes that we eat, and we do things that will last a lifetime so that when we are at a good weight we don't go all out and gain it all back. But we are here to support and help ya and anytime you need anything just post and we'll be there. Remember emoticon

emoticon SandySue to Dealing With Depression,

Glad you joined us. This is a very caring, supportive team and I look forward to hearing more from you in the days to come. Sharing will help you to stay motivated and also help you to hold yourself accountable.

Try not thinking of this site as a place to come to learn to diet. We are all just trying to live healthier lifestyles by making one small change at a time. Choose one small goal you would like to start working on and build from there.

Please don't hesitate to ask questions - we are here for you.

Take this first week to familiarize yourself with the tools here. Once you get used to using them, it becomes easier to use them even when you are busy. Personally, I spent my first week learning to use the tools, and just tracking everything I was already eating and doing for exercise. It gave me a baseline to work from. It also gave me a chance to really decide what my goals were, and how to get there.

This site can only provide the support and the tools to reach these goals. You need to put the hard work in. Personally, I end up kicking my own butt every day. Feel free to check out my blogs to see how I kick my butt out the door to get my fitness in. I can tell you, once I am finished with my exercise for the day, I feel great. No more I should do this and I should do that. Instead, I feel accomplished, and able to relax and enjoy the rest of my day.

This team is indeed truely awesome; the encouragement and support I've recieved here in just a few days is astonishing to me; welcome, and enjoy!

Just because you have been through the rain of life doesn't mean I have to walk around in wet clothes forever; there is a warm towel, a big hug, and a mug of low fat cocoa waiting for you somewhere!

Hi,
I joined sparkpeople a couple of weeks ago, Haven't been ready to get serious about dieting just yet, but after seeing the scales yesterday and the lousy way I've been feeling, I think I'm ready. I've been an emotional eater the last 10 yrs and any family conflict or disappointment sends me to the kitchen to eat.
It's nice to be here. This seems like an enocouraging team.
