Today I worked really hard to get some balance in my carb-protein-fat ratios and drink more water. I was mostly successful, but it's a learning process...

Great job staying on your goals! I got some plumbing repairs done and we washed most of the windows today. I will finish the rest of the windows tomorrow while the electrician is repairing the outlet for the dishwasher and the contractor measures for the new bathroom counters. We are WORN OUT!

Yay, Dorothy! Enjoy your YOU TIME. You deserve it!

I got my workout done. I find it amazing that working out can totally clear your sinuses. Of course, now that I've stopped, I'm back to stuffy and sniffly. I had to duct-tape a box of Kleenex to my chest.

Back to work today after 4 day weekend. Nutrition should be better as I tend to eat out of boredom at home. Last of holiday cookies went in garbage this morning!

Need to stay away from staff break room. Someone brought cookies and yummy looking homemade cinnamon rolls! Unfortunately, that's also where my copier is.

Just came home from a long night of shopping - my goal for today was to walk as much as I could. Parked far from the store (but near a light post to be safe!) and after each purchase, I would walk back to my car, lock the gifts in the trunk, and then go to the next store. I did this four times!
Have a wonderful Holiday Team!

Hi everyone! Not only is tracking getting easier, it's almost addicting! A good addiction! School menu had nachos for lunch, I skipped the chips and cheese and piled up the lettuce and tomatoes and some meat. Learning to make better choices.

Next few days will probably be busy for everyone!

Merry Christmas! Do your best but don't deprive yourself. We deserve a small treat every now and then. Just don't over endulge.

My weigh in is tomorrow and my goal over the next few days is to maintain, have fun and not overeat!

Steve, I'm with you! The tracking is getting easier and I'm actually looking forward to it! I've experienced a great deal of stress recently and instead of doing the usual - emotional eating, I paused and thought about the tracker and decided to deal with my stress in a healthier way. btw...you're the first person I've ever known to like Fruit Cake! emoticon

My goal today was to get our new shower door installed, and we did it with time to spare! I will post a photo on my blog tomorrow, once the caulk dries and I can clean the glass. Oh, it looks sooooo nice.

emoticon

I am constantly amazed at how SP is helping me stay on track just by forcing me to enter all I eat through the nutrition tracker and all my exercise too. It's like I don't even think about it anymore - it goes into the tracker and all is well. Whenever I'm tempted to eat something I shouldn't, my first thought is "what will the tracker say about this???" LOL

Our neighbor brought over some homemade fruitcake yesterday. She makes it with healthy dried fruits (apricots, plums, cranberries) so it's not overly sweet. She brought 3 pieces that were about 4 ounces each. I cut one in half and ate just 2 ounces and wrapped the rest for another time. The tracker said that was about 180 calories, which was still within my limits for the day.

My sister always makes homemade candies for everyone at Christmas. I'm going to send those to Steve's workplace so I'm not tempted. Well, maybe I'll have one piece. BUT ONLY ONE!

Great job, Dorothy and Steve, staying within plan while eating out. I did OK at my party Friday night. Had a little chips and dip. Skipped a bavarian cram cupcare everyone said they were to die for.

I love stories like that!

I did great at the party tonight. I had one bite of his chocolate lava cake (it was ok) but my macadamia-crusted sea bass with coconut rice was DEEEEEEEEE-licious!

I stayed within my limit today too.

Have a great weekend!

Steve - he brought the menu home?? Wow! How lucky are you to have a support system like that? My goal just for today was to remain within my caloric limit - NAILED IT! Not only did I nail it, I did it while eating out not 1, not 2, but all 3 MEALS! It was "one of those days" but I was in control. Have a great week-end everyone! emoticon

Sounds like the Holiday Parties are rolling in. Good job everyone planning ahead.

I have a party/house warming tonight, too. My goal is to limit the goodies to one cookie and hope they are serving something healthier too.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Dorothy - congrats! That's such a positive outlook - plan in advance so that you'll make good food choices. I'm going to my honey's company holiday party tomorrow night, and he brought the menu from the restaurant home so I could take a look at it ahead of time. Isn't that thoughtful?

Keep up the good work!

Steve, I haven't logged on daily, but you're an inspiration and doing great!

I have a huge sweet tooth too. And I can't take the artificial sugars either. My biggest downfall is CHOCOLATE. But I'm able to cut back on quantity by eating a small piece of very dark chocolate, which helps the craving.

Now the biggest challenge is upon me with Christmas baking for the family who is coming home. I'll have to bake something healthier for me.

Keep up the good work!

Mine too, for sure!!! If I balance sweets with protein, that tends to help a lot (as I'm sure you know). It's so hard to get rid of that sweet tooth!!! I mean, IF I really really wanted to get rid of it, of course.........lol

I gotta tell you that Torani Salted Caramel sugar-free syrup is SCRUMPTIOUS! Not recommended for low sodium diets (the salted part is definitely evident in the sodium content on the label), but at 0 calories a serving (2 Tbsp), it's a great way to flavor non-fat Greek yogurt for a decadent dessert!

I'm re-introducing healthy carbs into the diet starting this week: whole grains, brown rice, and low GI fruits. That should help. I do love my Greek yogurt! I bought some sugar free Torani syrup (salted caramel flavor) at Cost Plus World Market today. I'm going to try it in my yogurt tonight for dessert. YUM!

Have a great week!

Wow!!! I wish I could run a deficit like that! That's what happens when you have a desk job. Blech...

Have you used protein powders to make shakes, or yogurt? That's a pretty healthy way to boost intake. Then there's always ice cream....lol

Good luck! I hope your goal went great today!

Today's goal: find healthy ways to boost my calorie intake without blowing the budget! According to my trackers, I'm running about an 800 calorie deficit every day. That's probably not good for my recovery period after exercising.

Cardio done, although I still have to walk the dogs this afternoon, if the rain ever lets up. Now it's time to work on the holiday cards and wrap some gifts. Tis the season! :)

My goal for Friday is to keep my food intake within the program. We've got a bunch of errands to run tomorrow, and a stop at a fast food joint would be soooo convenient.

NOT GONNA HAPPEN!

My goal for today is to walk the 2 flights of stairs at work 3 times today. I'm sticking a sticky note on my computer to check it off and keep it visual.

Okay, pick ***ONE*** reasonable and reachable goal JUST FOR TODAY and put it out there by replying to this post. Saying your goal out loud or typing it out and sharing it with others really does make a huge difference. Don't worry if you think your goal is too small or 'whimpy'. The plan here is to SET YOURSELF UP FOR SUCCESS, not for failure. Choose something that you CAN and WILL do and make it SPECIFIC. Then, you need to break it down into steps that will help you achieve that goal. You CAN do this, one day at a time.

Okay, now, what is YOUR goal JUST FOR TODAY???

Mine? My goal is to stay within 100 calories of the LOW END of my calorie range. I am going to achieve this goal by having low cal snacks available for when I get bored. I like to crunch on mints and drink water or tea to help me reach my goal. Then, I also plan to walk today to burn some extra calories. That will definitely help me stay within 100 calories of the low end of my range.

Come on now.........your turn..........put it out there! ;-)
