One of the tools I'm using for motivation are virtual runs. Instead of meeting up on a certain day at a specified time, and running/walking with a group of strangers, you sign up for an event and then do the distance at you own time. You pick the day, time, if you do it all at once, or divide it up over several days. I personally am motivated by race bling because I have the heart of a runner. I just don't have the endurance and strength yet to run. To keep me motivated to move in that direction and to just get out and be active in general, I plan to do at least one virtual race a month as money allows. My first race is went all in and signed up for a half marathon for the medal, "She Believed She Could, So She Did." It's sentimental to me and while the medal has arrived, I haven't earned it yet. I am 6.156 mile away from being able to open the mailer package and celebrate my first medal milestone. If this sounds like something that interests you and you would like to join the monthly medal challenge, please let me know and we can work out details for something official in the group.
