emoticon Good morning ladies. When I got up at 6 this morning it was white outside, we had such a heavy fog. It hasn't lifted yet at 9 but the sun is trying to peek through it. I had such a busy day out yesterday, we went to 4 different places to get everything done and it felt like we walked 100 miles in those stores!! We also sat in Walmart to have lunch, first time we've been able to eat inside places in months and that was really nice. I got all that was on my list when shopping so I should be fine till the next time we go out. We made plans to go to Port Dover next week, right on my birthday. Mame takes me out for a birthday meal every year and suggested that we go to the lake. First time I've been there in 3 years, I always went with my sister and BIL but since he passed away, I haven't wanted to go back. Perhaps this will be good for me. My son's wife wants to take me out for a BD supper so we'll set a date for another night. And another niece is picking me up on the 9th, to go to my sister's home so we three can have a BD lunch together! So many nice celebrations and get togethers coming up. I am enjoying all this.

Judy, that's wonderful what you do for the hospice, I'm sure the residents are happy receiving these homemade gifts. If your 93 year old uncle lives alone, I hope he's doing well. Things get harder as we get up really high in age.

Bev Anne, imagine getting to see your doctor in person when you just dropped in to ask something! That's almost unheard of these days. Glad all is going well with you.

Sandra, one good thing about our hairdressers cutting our hair too short -- it grows back! Disappointing when we don't get the cut we want though. Mine is coming this morning to give me another cut, I keep telling her 'shorter, shorter', lol. Taking the bus up the hill is a good idea!

Carol, that was a bad fall that you had and you took it right in stride, afraid I couldn't do that. I do hope you aren't hurting or too achy today, lucky it wasn't worse! Sad about Sky leaving but she'll be back again, that's something to look forward to.

Hello to everyone, wishing each of you a happy hump day!

This morning I got an e-mail letting me know that our sewing for Hospice will resume on September 8. Good news. We make Comfort Bears and small quilts for the residents of our local hospice.

Two bears ready to be left in rooms. We had a stockpile of completed bears and quilts before the pandemic. We had started sewing before the hospice was built. I expect everything was used while we were off.

This afternoon I had an unexpected phone call from my 93 year old uncle (my mother's baby brother). He lives in an apartment in Ottawa. His wife died just before the pandemic. It was really good to hear from him.

Greetings Ladies,

I was too tired to come in here yesterday after we got back from Calgary. Gordon had an appointment with a specialist whose office is just down the hall from my urologist who took out the kidney stones last summer. I have had one follow-up phone appointment with him but he is so busy that I haven't heard from him since. He looks at your labs when they come in and puts you on the list for phone appointments but if you aren't urgent you keep getting shuffled to the bottom of the list. Anyway, I dropped in to ask a question about when I might hear from the nutritionist that my urologist is setting me up with and he decided to see me right then, in person, what a shock to actually see a specialist without an appointment. Anyway, he was pleased to see my lab results because my kidneys are functioning well but the last imaging test (a couple of months ago) show that I do have another stone forming that could cause problems in the future. Anyway he gave me a prescription that should help dissolve the stone and I have another appointment with him in January (not a good month to have to go in to Calgary). Anyway that was an added bonus.

Then we to our vitamin store and then for lunch and finally to pick up some groceries at Superstore. By the time we got home I was too exhausted to think so I just vegged in front of the TV for the rest of the day.

Carol: You sure are a super trouper!! ABBA's song could be your theme song. Many of us would cancel things for a while after those injuries.

Today I'm going to the nearby Hair Design School for a cut. Yes, it's down the hill. The last time I was there I had a student who was finishing the following week so I actually closed my eyes and relaxed for a while. Mistake! It was too short. When I asked her if she had a job lined up, she named a place in our Halifax Shopping Centre. It wasn't familiar to me and as it turned out, it's for MEN. Hence my short haircut! Yikes!

From the weather channel: Remarks: Smoke from forest fires in western Canada is expected to spread over Nova Scotia this afternoon. While most of the smoke will remain aloft, some may descend to near ground level causing reduced air quality. Associated haze will likely give the sun a reddish appearance.

I'll be getting the bus back up the hill!

Morning ladies,

We had a great time w/Sky and Larry last night. Laughed, told stories and it was a bittersweet time because she is leaving Thursday on the red eye.

Busy day today: have an important for the lab this morning and then this afternoon I am driving down the freeway for Bill's important Dr.'s appointment regarding the brain bleed.

Weather continue to be about the same, we will have a high of 78 but that humidity is still high with 89%

Oh, I injured myself yesterday. Was in the front plant bed and wrestling pulling out the root of a parsley plant. I tugged, pulled, twisted it and boy it was in there. Then, it came loose with a huge jerk, I lost my balance and then was caressing the cement ridge and grass. Took a big chunk out of my shin bone and my shoulder is extremely bruised plus my knees are a mess. The highlight was: I was able to get myself up - yea for me. You can't believe how sore I was and still am. emoticon

Gloria - I know you will really enjoy your time out today

Sandra - what are you doing today?

Wow, we were sooooo quiet yesterday.

Waving to all, happy Tuesday emoticon

emoticon Good morning on another hot day. Starting out at 60, which is ideal for me, but going up in the 80's again. I am counting the days till Autumn, my favourite season, arrives. I know most love summer but I dislike the heat. I'm going out for the day with my niece -- banking, groceries, Walmart and hopefully lunch in a restaurant, even Tim Hortons would be nice. We haven't been able to sit in one in so long!

Sandra, I always enjoy reading your posts, you have such a fun way of putting things.

Carol, it's nice that you were able to see Sky again before she leaves.

Enjoy a wonderful, healthy and safe Tuesday, ladies.

Good morning ladies,

Just got back in from walking Scarlett and it is yucky outside. There was rain earlier when I 1st got up and now it is just hanging in the air. Very overcast and we will have a high of 78 which is slightly warmer and humidity is 93%.

Today, Sky is scheduled to come over for the last time till Christmas, she leaves Thursday for Ohio.

Other than that event, if I have time I will go to Costco to pick up fresh fruits. If not, then I will run over to the supermarket to pick them up.

Watched the Olympics all afternoon and evening. Just love watching them perform and really go for it.

Gloria - thx for the pep talk

Bev Anne - at least the air doesn't smell bad

Waving to all, have a solid Monday emoticon

We just got back from Calgary -- church and lunch at Wendy's and now I am going to spend the afternoon reading.

The temperatures are pleasant here but the air is smokey and you can't see the mountains or even the city skyline when you are heading to Calgary. It doesn't smell bad though and I have my balcony door wide open most of the time.

Carol, I didn't realize that you go to bed early and rise early, that's a great habit to have. Tomorrow 'may' be laundry day for me, not sure yet. My taste buds are real wonky now, I can't taste bread, butter, most sandwich fillings but oddly, I can get some taste from some things. For example, I can taste cinnamon so I look for things that have that spice in them. It's not 100% gone, I'd say perhaps 95%. A person learns to adjust to these things. It does take joy out of eating at times though.

Morning ladies,

Actually went to bed later (for me) it was 11:00 and woke up at 6:00 (again later for me). Walked Scarlett, watched ABC world news show, fixed our traditional Sunday breakfast egg omelet w/mushrooms and salsa, bacon (for Bill)

Today: laundry, laundry and more laundry. Stripped the bed and have piles in the main bathroom where the combo washer/dryer are located.

Glued to the Olympics, oh y skateboard was on last night and the guys kept falling and falling.

Weather today: high of 75 which is nice but humidity is 85% still to high

Sandra - I burst out laughing at renting a car so you can use your new cooler

Bev Anne - enjoy your day

Gloria - sorry to read you lost your taste buds - so nothing taste different?

Judy - I have always liked traveling by train. So much easier than driving and I love to drive.

Waving to all, have a fun Sunday emoticon

Gloria: I'm sorry that you lost your taste for food but it's wonderful that you have dealt with it so well and that you haven't lost your enthusiasm and appreciation. I will "try" (that no-action word) to do the car/cooler thing.

Sandra, I have lost my taste pretty well but I still have what I call "eye taste". I remember what all food tastes like so I do like to have a variety of veggies, fruits, meats, etc. I still enjoy my food and often say "oh, that tasted good!"
I think renting a car, picking up a friend or two, filling that cooler with food & drinks - then driving to a park to enjoy together, would be an ideal thing to do, since you have a big cooler.

Carol: That's funny that you felt 150 years old. I get it. Some of those plans are geared to people who need nourishment but have lost their taste buds. Poor souls. My cousin I hang out with (yes, down the street from me) is like that. Also my sister. And my DIL says everything tastes metallic but, then again, she is quite creative with what she comes up with.

The one I joined asked that we leave a cooler outside our homes or in our lobbies. I bought a fairly large one plus one of those blue ice thingies. Now what do I do with it? Maybe I'll be renting a car for a couple of days every now and then. Is that an extreme solution to make use of a cooler? Oh, my.

emoticon Good morning ladies. I slept in because it's Sunday, a day to relax and reflect. Just sparking a bit before I have breakfast.

Bev Anne, you and Gordon lead a nice senior's life. Funny how your crops do well with less water and ours here need plenty. They are doing well though and so are the lawns.

Sandra, I hope you get pretty good news at the arthritis doctor appt, anything that goes on with our feet and legs really affects our walking. I tried meals coming to my door but found I didn't like that - for one thing, I had to be here when they were delivered and they came anytime between 11 am and 2 pm, which prevented me from going out those days and another thing was that they were pretty much the same as though I was 150 years old and could not eat a variety of things! I much prefer to make my own plus buy some frozen at Zehrs or buy ready made and freeze.

Wishing each of you a very nice, relaxing Sunday.

Good morning, folks!

It's 17 degrees so far in Halifax. That's great with me. Whoops! It's now 20 and going up to 24. As long as it's not humid I'm okay.

My meal delivery experiment is over now except for the meals now sitting in the freezer part of my fridge. I guess it's back to cooking a bit now and then and getting my individual frozen meals at Sobeys and Shoppers, like the butter chicken, that I think is good, and adding frozen peas for a vegetable.

My appointment with the Arthritis doctor (down the street, Carol) is this coming week. I'll get the verdict on my Hallux Rigidus big toe and hopefully some advice on physiotherapy for the rest of me.

No plans for today so far but will get out. Maybe I'll rejoin Canada Games which is ACROSS the street!! I've only used it the last couple of years for walking with my poles on the track but that's better than either staying home or walking outside in the heat and humidity which turns me into a wet noodle.

Have a good weekend, folks!!

Another quiet day today. Tomorrow we will be going into Calgary for church and Monday we will be going downtown Calgary for a medical appointment for Gordon in the morning.

Our weather has been quite pleasant but very dry -- from what I hear the crops have not done well this year due to drought conditions.

I'm going to go and read for a bit before I go to bed. Have a good weekend!

Carol, happy birthday to Bill. July is a good birthday month, isn't it. My daughter and her son both had theirs this month too.

Judy, we were supposed to get heat today but then it rained hard, stayed cloudy the rest of the day and we had showers off & on. No a/c, I've been getting a lovely breeze coming in my window. Tomorrow, so they say, will be hot. Oh you, now I want some peach pie! emoticon

Carol, today (July 24) is also my nephew's 35th birthday. I told him that I am hoping we will see him before the end of the year. Right now, we are considering a trip to Nova Scotia in September. I am hoping things are more settled by then and the train will be running again. I don't really want to go by car but don't be surprised if my husband convinces me that is the way to go.

I am glad I am not allergic to the stings but they are really making me miserable. Gloria, you asked about the stingers. I didn't see them so I assume they are still in me. I slept better last night but I took something to help.

I made a peach pie for Ted. It turned out so good. I'm glad I made it yesterday before the heat came back. I hate turning the oven on when it is already hot.

We had a downpour this morning right after we got up. The rain stopped but the humidity didn't.

Morning ladies,

We watched the opening ceremony of the Olympics. I have watched these games since I was a teenager and really like them and am in awe of the hard work those players accomplished.

Today is Bill's "real" birthday, he is 80 years old. The grands have been facetiming him and DD's and his son called. We are going to Fortune Cookie (Chinese food) for lunch and we have always liked the restaurant.

Temperature today wil be a teeny bit cooler with the high of 75 and humidity is down a titch but I will take it.

Gloria - Scarlett isn't doing well in this weather. On our walks she looks for the shade and then will just stand there.

Lynda - hope you have some fun that you are able to do inside.

Bev Anne - enjoy the pause before the busy week starts.

emoticon Good morning ladies. It's 61 at the moment and I'm loving it! I had a surprise visit from my son's wife yesterday afternoon. She had to come back from the lake for a few days to help her elderly aunt so she made and brought me a meal and we had a nice long visit. It was so good to see her.

Bev Anne, I enjoy summer but the temps are getting more unbearably hot every summer and I don't enjoy that. We could use rain here but I don't think we're too badly off - the grass is all emerald green, beautiful. Good to have your blood work done and next week the doctor & hair appts.

Carol, congrats on that log in streak! How is Scarlett holding up in the humidity? That sounds terribly high.

Judy, are there stingers that you have to get out when bit by yellow jackets? The itching would drive a person up a wall! It's good Ted's bike got a flat while sitting in the garage, he wouldn't want that happening when riding on a busy road. YES, I'm looking forward to eating in a restaurant again, it's been a while. My sister always got liver & onions and while I love that, I've always been leery on a restaurant getting it cooked 'just right', picky eater, eh, lol.

Sandra, I so agree with you - I like routine, not constant changes. My niece and I sometimes get a breakfast sandwich when we go for lunch at a Tim Hortons, I like their biscuit they use for their sandwiches but isn't it good to just have it made for you. I look forward to one of them soon. Pushing my walker up a ramp to get into some stores feels like I'm climbing a mountain, so yes, I do feel as you do when walking a hill.

Enjoy Saturday and your weekend, dear friends. Any plans for yours?

Good Afternoon,

We went to Calgary yesterday -- just for fun. And today we had lab appointments for bloodwork. Next week will be a bit busier with doctor's appointments and haircuts in the mix.

The weather is nice for the people but not for the farmers -- not much rain in the forecast.

I hope you are all enjoying summer.

Morning ladies,

All is well in my household. Weather continues to be humid, which as I have mentioned previously is very strange. The high today will be 75 and the humidity is 93%

Today: think we will take a run to Sams warehouse, Bill needs some premier protein and I need Hazelnut creamer. Of course walking Scarlett is major 4 times/day.

Sparks notified me that my login streak is now 2500 days emoticon

Judy - wow, you are lucky about the yellow jackets and you are lucky you aren't allergic to the sting. Boy, smart to have bike insurance.

Sandra - LOL, your street again. How wonderful to have a supermarket across from your home. Yup, the humidity I mentioned above ruins summer for me.

Gloria - sounds like you had a good day yesterday for sure.

Roz - hope you night was uneventful and today is a good day for you.

How can it be Friday already? The way the days are flying by it could be Christmas next week. emoticon

What a miserable night I had. Yesterday morning when I was working in my garden, I turned a log over and there was a nest of yellow jackets. I got stung 3 times. I am grateful it wasn't more because there was quite a swarm of them. One got my right index finger, one got my left thumb and one got my left calf. I put a baking soda paste on the bites but during the night the itching kept me awake. I got up early so that my tossing and turning wouldn't keep my husband awake.

Ted had his own problems. In the afternoon, he was going to go for a motorcycle ride to see a friend. When he was backing the bike out of the garage, something didn't feel right. It turned out that the rear tire was flat. He called CAA to get the bike taken to his mechanic. We added bike coverage a few years ago after we got stuck on the side of the road. That event was enough to make us add coverage for the bike.

On the good side of things, we ate inside a restaurant for supper. I had liver and onions that was really good. He enjoyed his mini lasagna and ate the whole thing. (I say that because his appetite has been on the low side lately.)

Gloria: Yes, this constant upgrading has gotten to me. I think it started with my first cell phone (I'm on my second one now and only because I kept running out of space for pictures).

Now this new laptop and having to sign in with passwords all over again for everything and popups asking me to register for this and that and I don't know which one is needed and which ones are extras/sales pitches.

I know that some people don't want change from their 30's onward and I was never like that. I am endlessly curious and interested in many things. However, at 79 I just want to settle on these daily things, technology things, and get off the learning curve..

Then, I have to tackle Facebook and start building my personal info/pictures all over again.

So today was a gift because I got up early and stayed up and the air was CLEAR!!! No humidity which had me and many others down. I even walked down to MacDonald's and had a nice coffee and Egg McMuffin (I ran out of eggs) then across the street to my supermarket.

When I walked down the hill during the humid days, I felt like I was 150 years old and felt ill!!

Does anybody else react to those days like that? That's why I always dread Summer but try not to rain on others' parades.

Have a good Friday all and lots of fresh air!!

Beck: Friday Weekend Warm-up:

Now that the country is opening back up, many people are having trouble staying on track in social situations.

Our biggest piece of advice: MAKE A PLAN!

For any (and all!) events you have this weekend, think them through, write down exactly what you plan to do, and read the plan right before you go.

Even better?

Bring it with you so you can read it and refocus if things start to go awry.

Every day I am on the verge of making slight changes that would make all the difference in my life.

emoticon Good morning ladies. My apt is nice and clean and my cleaning lady sat for a long gab session yesterday, which I love! She's been a good friend all these years and might I say, she's like another daughter to me. Then I talked to my sister for 1 1/2 hrs in the afternoon as she was feeling down, so all the talking/listening made me super tired and I slept in, way late today!

Sandra, I hope you are feeling better today. Is the new laptop getting you down?

Carol, I'm glad the inspection went so well and hope you get those bookcases done soon.

Roz, it's always nice to see you, I hope all is going well with you.

Hi to everyone. I slept in and am just sparking a bit now. Enjoy your Friday, work at keeping it healthy - that never gets old to hear.

Morning ladies,

Just got back from walking Scarlett. Love the 1st walk, it is cooler and no humidity. Nothing planned for today, just continue to tackle the bookcases.

Speaking of weather - our high will be 79 with humidity at 91% emoticon

My inspection went well - only 1 smoke alarm out of 3 didn't work and I had to register Scarlett. So off I went to the Transfer office and then I had to run to the vets. Did have all her shots but needed proof she was spaded. Finally back to their office and all is well, have a Pet Alert that you put on a front window. If we have a fire or earth quake, the firemen and crew know that there is a pet to find.

Sandra - sure hope you feel better quickly. Laying on the couch and drinking coffee sounds like great medical advice. emoticon

Gloria - rushing but your home will be all clean and tidy

Lynda - hi back to you

Judy - ahhhh, siblings

Waving to all, have a great Thursday emoticon

Beck Thursday Think Tip:

It's easy to conflate boredom with hunger.

The next time you want to eat, take a moment to ask yourself if you have an empty rumbling in your stomach.

If not, chances are you're not hungry.

Instead of going to the kitchen, find a different fun activity to do

Yes, our granddaughter, her husband and son are in the basement. They have a bedroom, bathroom and living room. To use the kitchen, they go upstairs to the main part of the house. Brian (our son) and Helen (DIL) are happy they are there, especially during the pandemic. They could spend time with the baby (their first grandchild) which of course was a help to the new parents. Fortunately, Brian had fixed up the basement space before they moved back. From what they tell me, it will be better when Noah (grandson) moves into his new bedroom. Apparently, he and his big sister don't always get along.

Morning team,

We have inspections from the city today. They do it every few years to make sure the owners haven't gotten crazy and wired things wrong, fire alarms and other things that cause fires. So glad they do it because we are attached to other homes. We live on a corner so I have a neighbor next to me and behind me. Wonder what they do when they run across a hoarder, I am going to ask?

Weather continues to be warm and slightly humid. Instead of putting on the AC, I have ceiling fans in each room which uses less electricity. This is a good things because we always seem to be having a Flex Alert. emoticon

Well I did start to tackle the bookcases, oh my what I found. LOL, now I have piles all over the dinning room. Will continue with it today.

Sandra - you have nice weather today, think 20 = about 65 here. Glad you are enjoying the meals.. LOL, yes a picture of those psycho squirrels eating breakfast and drinking coffee might really be worth something.

Gloria - now when I have the permanent implants the gums will be healed etc. Right now the temporary implants aren't as tight because when they were doing it, the gums were swelling.

Judy - in the basement, do they have a kitchen and bathroom?

Bev Anne - thx for explaining the dollar store and the exchange rate

Waving to all, have a great hump day emoticon

Good morning!

I'm having another dinner (half) for breakfast from Saut and while it's very tasty, I'm not used to eating so much meat (all the lunches and dinners have meat). If I order again, I'll get just the dinners.

Scott had motorcycles/dirt bikes over the years and though I did worry I also thought that learning to take it apart, looking after it, etc. was good for his confidence. During this recent visit he was telling people that when he took me for a ride (I think I only did it once), I wouldn't lean with the bike. I think I was afraid we'd end up on the pavement but what I was doing was probably worse!

It's cloudy and 20 degrees here in Halifax. Have a good day !

emoticon Good morning team. I had a lovely day out yesterday but am going to give up looking for sandals and summer slacks. Slacks are hard to fit me so I'll make do with what I have and though I tried on oodles of sandals, I did not find a pair that felt really comfortable. I did, however get two nice blouses in Reitman's store, they already had a sale on summer clothes and I got a lot off them. We went to Arby's, got food and drinks and took them to my sister's home to have lunch with her. She's so happy about moving to an apartment and that made us happy. Then her and I got talking about the antics we got into when single and we laughed so hard about them, agreeing that we had a lot of fun when we were young.
When my niece brought me back home, she came up to my apt to visit for an hour and that was so enjoyable and relaxing. Her and I can have such nice talks, sometimes quiet ones and other times full of laughter. I had a wonderful Tuesday and hope you all did too.

Sandra, first I must say congrats to your sister on winning that Max lottery! I buy tickets whenever I'm out and I keep my fingers crossed. It's so nice that she shared some with you and that you're enjoying some extra things. Like you, I'm not a big spender but I do buy things I need or really want. Great that your visit with Scott and Mary was wonderful for all of you!

Carol, I would never have thought about food getting beneath your dentures, will you have to have him get it out all the time? I do remember that my BIL used to feed the birds, squirrels and chipmunks at his home daily but it got to the point that you couldn't sit outside on their back patio without squirrels coming right up to you looking for food and you'd always be afraid of them jumping on you! Those little critters can give you quite a bite!

Bev Anne, we still have a warning of poor air quality and it was very hazy yesterday. Probably from the fires. It was also HOT yesterday, whew!

Judy, my daughter loves riding on the back of her hubby's motorcycle and that always worries me. My son had a big Harley for years and I always worried about him on it too. I must be a worry wort, lol. That's so good to hear Ted finally finished his golf game.

Off I go to have some breakfast. Enjoy your Wednesday.

Gloria, I don't go on the motorcycle anymore. He still invites me but last year he told me he is okay with me saying "no". He figures I put in enough hours on the back of the bike. I think he enjoys his rides more when he isn't concerned about me.

Carol, most of what is in the crawl space belongs to our granddaughter. When she and her husband moved out of their apartment back to our son's house, they stored a lot of stuff here. On Sunday, Brian brought clothes that Lucas (our great grandson) has outgrown. The way the price of houses has been going, we wonder if the kids will ever be able to buy a home. In the meantime, they are living in Brian's basement. Currently, Brian and our grandson are making a bedroom for our grandson in the garage. After he moves from his basement bedroom, it will become Lucas's room.

Sandra, making a gmail address just for your new Facebook page is a good idea.

Ted actually finished his golf game this afternoon without getting rained on. It is almost 8:30 and I can hear thunder so we could be getting more rain soon.

Carol, The Dollar Tree is a US-based company. They bought out stores in Canada that were just called The Dollar Store a few years back. Because of the difference between the Canadian Dollar and the US Dollar, everything in the Dollar Tree in Canada is $CAN 1.25. The other store that we have is Dollarama where prices vary more but there is more variety. It depends on what we want which store we shop at.

Our weather is rather strange. It's not as warm as was predicted which is a good thing but the air is quite smokey. The skies are grey and you can't see the mountains. We have our balcony door open and the temperature is supposedly 15C (59 F) but it will probably warm up to the low 80s later on.

Now I have to run and have my shower before my cleaning lady arrives.

Morning ladies,

Just got in from my 1st walk. I do love the 1st walk, all is still quiet, everything is fresh and the psycho squirrels are still drinking coffee and eating breakfast. emoticon

My dentist appointment went very well, I have had pain and ache in my lower jaw. He went under the teeth and got out food that was stuck. That is a problem, as the gums stopped swelling, you catch food under the teeth. I couldn't have gotten it out myself and the pain stopped almost immediately. All is well now!!!!

Today our high will be 80 and sunny. Don't have any outside activities other than the supermarket. I am determined to tackle 3 shelves in one of the floor to ceiling bookcases. Many items went on to the shelves when we moved and lordy, don't have a clue what is on it, things are stacked tight. Because of macular degeneration, I can't read the small prints on the books, so I will donate them to the library.

Sandra - I bet you will miss Scott and Mary. Wow, your sister is very lucky, the odds of winning really shows how hard it is

Gloria - have fun cruising the mall.

Waving to all, happy Tuesday emoticon

Carol: I agree with Gloria re the Beck post.

Well, Scott and Mary have gone home. I miss them a lot already. I went to the airport with them as the rental car was in my name--a treat to them as it was an expensive trip and stay. They could handle it but it's time the tables were turned and they are on the receiving end.

I won't go into details but a little while back my sister won the MAX lottery (In Ontario) and decided to split three ways with her son and daughter. I'm her only sibling left and she gave me a nice amount from her third. Hence, I'm able to treat as above!!

My own treat (so far) was ordering from a place called Saut They have various subscriptions or one-time meal orders. I chose the Diet one and last week received five lunches and five dinners. It arrives fresh but because of Scott and Mary's visit I wasn't home a lot so I put much of it in the freezer. Then this week's arrived yesterday. I had Pad Thai for breakfast. Hahaha! The portions are good so I'll have the rest of that one for lunch.

With my new laptop set up (Yes!!), I put the above plan on "Pause" which stops the deliveries but doesn't cancel (smart business). It's way too much meat for me especially twice a day and I usually don't have a meal at lunchtime. I'm glad I did it and I'll look for a partial version soon. One friend is coming over after work and I'll give her a few of the meals for her and her partner. She gets tired of cooking and he doesn't cook.

Now at some point when I'm feeling all wheels are turning in my head, I'll attempt to get my Facebook back. Mary suggested that I create a new Gmail for Facebook only. If anybody has any suggestions, please feel free to share.

That's my news. It feels funny to have some extra money as I was quite content with what I had and am not a big spender. Going for physiotherapy is on my list now.

Have a wonderful day, all!!

Carol, that sounds like a fun time going down the slider into the water! I don't even take my camera when I go anywhere these days either, where just a few years ago I'd grab it along with my purse whenever I went out.

My niece and I are going browsing stores today, we're not sure which ones but we want to shop for sandals and summer slacks. We're just going to play it by ear and see where we end up. Nice to shop on a day that doesn't have a grocery run.

Enjoy your Tuesday, it's very hazy here and the air is not good but I'll be either in the car of in the store!

Morning ladies,

Was out of bed by 4:00 like I was supposed to be somewhere. It is now 6:00 and I am tired for sure, see a restful afternoon.

Going to the dentist this morning. Our weather will have a high of 83 and humid again.

Gloria - like your new picture! LOL, ahhh, no one took any pictures, if fact we didn't think about it because a lot of the time, we were in their pool. They had a usable pool and it was sure nice to go out the slider and then into the water.

Bev Anne - Dollar tree - wonder if it is different from Dollar Store or 99 cent store?

Judy - when you store something in the crawl space, do you forget it is there? Hmmm, just remembered our old attic. You get to it through a closet, forgot to look up there when we moved and I think there things up there. Oops emoticon

Birdie - wow, that is past warm but hot, hot, hot. Loved reading how determined you are

Sandra - that sounds like a special family.

Waving to all, it is the start of another week, lets make it work emoticon

Greetings friends!

Today was much cooler than it was supposed to be -- I have no idea why but it was a pleasant day.

We went to Calgary this morning -- church and Dollar Tree. Then this afternoon I had a half hour video call with my friend Milton from Ecuador. The conversation was a mixture of English and Spanish -- a language we call Spanglish -- he wants to spend more time practicing his English so we will probably chat again soon. I guess I'd better brush up on my Spanish.

Then for the rest of the afternoon, I spent most of my time reading.

There is not much on the calendar this week so we'll just see what pops up.

I've taken down my own photo for my profile picture and will be putting on some fun, summer ones for the next, final month on SP.

Carol, I'll bet the birthday supper/party went well today, did you take any photos?

Judy, your hubby has a variety of ways to spend his summer and it's good that you go along with them but don't you go on the motorcycle with him now? Sounds like you have a really nice, tight knit family, and what a joy when they pop in like they do. I love butter tarts too but not the really, really sweet ones. I found some that I love at the farm where I get fresh produce, they have a variety of baked goods and they're yummy!!

Our circle of friends here has gotten smaller and I love each post that is made for us. Thanks for sharing your day today Carol and Judy. Perhaps more will come in tonight but I'm getting off SP for the evening. See you tomorrow!

It was a nice Sunday at home. Himself went for a motorcycle ride around the county after lunch. Before he got back son #2 dropped in. He had some things our granddaughter wanted to store in our crawl space. Our daughter-in-law was in town for her cousin's daughter's baby shower. Helen's aunt lives on the next street so she walked here when she was done. They brought me some different hostas and Brian even put them in the ground for me. I gave them a clump from mine that are different from hers. She knows where she wants to put them.

Ted got home before they left. He had some butter tarts from a stand that has some he likes. Brian likes butter tarts too so he got to have a couple before they left to go back home.

The K of C had another chicken barbecue this afternoon. I had chosen 4:45 as our pick-up time. We both enjoyed our dinner and since we divided the chicken we have another meal for later this week.

Hi ladies,

Dashing as I need to walk Scarlett, my ABC Sunday news show starts at 8:00. Today we are celebrating Bill's 2nd birthday celebration. His actual birthday is the 24th. My bro and family are hosting, I did purchase the b'day cake from the bakery. Bill will be 80

Weather: high of 82 and yike humid again.

Have a fun Sunday emoticon

Every day I am on the verge of making slight changes that would make all the difference in my life.

One day I won't be able to do this, but today is not that day

emoticon Good morning. I am shocked that I wasn't in here yesterday, I was positive I had been!

Lynda, we had a nice cool day yesterday and it's to be hot today. I loved yesterday and sat on balcony for a while, twice! That's a record for me, lol.

Carol, enjoy Bill's birthday celebration today.

Bev Anne, I have every day to just do my own thing and yet some days I seem to be so darn busy.

Judy, I remember freezing rhubarb yearly and now all I eat is the rhubarb jam my son makes. I never have fresh rhubarb to make sauce.

Sandra, I'm glad you had some time with your son and DDL, even if it was to attend a funeral. Yes, some families really work great together and are a joy to be around at any time.

Birdie, we adjust to things in life, I'm okay with my deafness. I'm doing stretching exercises several times a day now, for my wonky leg, they really do help.

Off I go to make breakfast, sorry I wasn't here yesterday. Enjoy your Sunday, keep it healthy.

Oh, and it is 115 degrees outside!! It’s still 72 degrees inside. I’m slab on grade with tile floors, so it absorbs the cold from the ground and radiates inside. I leave the curtains open at night and the windows radiate the cold from the night air as there’s no air conditioner. So, so far, it’s just fine. emoticon emoticon

Hello:

Gloria: I read down below about your deafness. I am so sorry to hear it. I too lost one ear only in my 20’s (deaf) and find many people have the same, deaf in one ear. Mine was a sudden rupture in the round window, which the balance chamber was protected by. I had walls spinning, and so on. The doctor had to do microsurgery to close it. I had so many embarrassing encounters after that. Once in court the entire room broke out in laughter at me as I was trying to explain to the judge why I grabbed my head in pain about a week after the surgery and a car stopped dead right in front of me on a crest of a hill, no warning, nothing. But, after I finally finished my explanation, the entire court room was silent. I was accused of doing drugs at one really important job I had, as I was to embarrassed to tell anyone about my ear and since I could not hear, I was answering questions inappropriately and my answers came off as nonsensical. But, I just broke down in tears trying to explain about my ear. After that, no one bothered me, well - - except for some crazies at the firm who were calling me and confronting me in a very inappropriate manner, if you get my drift. Well, I was raised to take care of myself and after I took care of the crazy ones, they dared not approach me ever again. When I lost my hearing, the ENT told me my nerve died. I understand there is a surgery or is one in the works that replaces these nerves and can allow hearing. But, I have not had the time to check into all of it. My other ear is bad these days due to a sinusitis and ongoing for over 3 years. I’m supposedly getting a referral to an ENT on Monday. So slow, these health insurances. But, also, I have had problems & pain in my legs, as I had a stroke in ‘06 and it messed up my legs. I’ve been able to get much relief and strength reversal in my legs with the copper compression socks, all kinds of leg stretches, walking and dancing in my living room to a video. I don’t push it hard though. Also, a chiropractor told me way back to stand on my toes more often, so I started wearing combat boots here very recently that have a raised heal and it really helps with my leg strength. I did go into Physical Therapy way back as well as hiring my own PT at a private gym and learned the stretches I needed to do. I have no idea if this would help you. I also get lots of sleep, which I really seem to need from time to time. I know, I was the same at my divorce, as it really knocked me for a loop. I had no idea what I’d done wrong. Of course, I did nothing wrong, but, it took me 7 years before I could pull out of depression to start functioning away from all the thoughts. I was never given any reasons. The thing just exploded. But, looking back now, boy am I glad I got out of that mess. I won’t be going to FB, unfortunately, (a stalker) but will stay here for the while. I will try to join in on the new SP. So saying good bye for today. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hello folks.

I'll try to catch up on the reading. I've been away since early Wednesday to Antigonish, N.S. to attend a funeral service.

Scott and Mary (my son and DIL) were already there as it was her step-father and they were the ones in the immediate family who kept up with him and did their best with long distance phone calls, talks with caregivers, etc.

In Antigonish I was delighted to meet the man's nieces and nephews from his brother/last sibling now. What a beautiful family, doing everything they could to help out especially with food, setting up a table especially for us three different times including the morning of the funeral. Then there was lots of socializing and stories of the related families. There were eight sisters and three brothers. I feel if one wanted to make a documentary on teamwork within families, they would be the perfect family to use.

I think the fact that we were out-of-towners and staying at an hotel sealed the deal. There were four of us.

Now Scott and Mary are trying to work through the red tape to get COVID tests prior to their departure to Denver early Tuesday morning.

It finally stopped raining this morning shortly after we got up.

I pulled some rhubarb, got it cleaned, diced and into the freezer. I also found two more cucumbers. The vines are getting so long.

We tried some of the corn for lunch. It was really good.

Ted has gone to the Legion, hoping for a dart game.

Good Morning Ladies,

Yesterday I didn't even turn my computer on. I read all my Emails and posts, and played games on my new iPad and then I read most of a new Danielle Steel novel called Nine Lives. Once I start one of her books I have trouble putting it down -- I will finish it today. It's about men who love adrenaline spiking dangerous activities like racing, flying and extreme sports and the fear it produces in the women who love them.

Gordon went into Calgary to visit a friend yesterday so I had the whole afternoon to just do my own thing and I just sat in my chair with the fan blowing on me and played with my toys (iPad, TV and books). So far there is nothing planned for today but we will probably go to church in Calgary tomorrow instead of just watching the service on TV. There is nothing much on the agenda for the coming week so we will see what comes up.

Morning ladies,

Slept very well last night, was really tired. Today I have a WW meeting, I am a Lifetime Member and it is the instructor that I really enjoy.

Need to go to a bakery and order Bill's birthday cake for tomorrow. LOL, still not his birthday but we are celebrating with my bro, SIL and nephew w/family.

A few more errands and then finally back home.

Weather today is 77 and humid.

Lynda - have a rainless day

Gloria - It is nice to go to a restaurant and eat. That is 1 advantage of living in CA, we get fresh veggies and fruit before others. It starts early and end late. emoticon People who don't follow the law and feed wild animals = psycho squirrels who demand food.

Judy - LOL, well cleaning up the berries sure let to more and even bread making.

Roz - glad your phone had the upgrade, it is nice when you can tell them "come on down"

Waving to all, have a super duper Saturday emoticon

Judy, we posted the same time!
Isn't it funny how we start to do a small job, like you cleaning out those blueberries and end up doing it all, like your whole fridge! I haven't had corn on the cob yet but have had some peaches this week and they're so juicy and sweet, yum! Isn't it wonderful how we have opened up so much today? Some restrictions yet but I don't mind those. I can't wait to sit in a restaurant and have a meal, just because it is so relaxing to do so, it's been a long time coming! Enjoy that homemade bread, that always tastes better than store bought bread.

emoticon Seems our chat thread gets quieter all the time. For those still here, we still can chat for another month so come on in and share your day with us. I know that some are heavy into the groups on face book that are formed by SP friends but don't forget about us here please.

Roz, it's so good to see you and Yes, the fire drills are really important and all went well today.

Carol, I'm glad you had such a fun dinner with family and got enough hugs to tide you over till next time you see them. Coyotes? They can be dangerous for small animals and children so be ever on the lookout when walking Scarlett. Same goes for those psycho squirrels - how on earth did they ever get to be like that??

I'm getting off SP now, got some programs to watch tonight. See you faithful ladies tomorrow, sleep well tonight.

After taking the day off yesterday, I did another bigger job in the kitchen this morning - cleaning the fridge and freezer. Our fridge has the freezer on the bottom. A few weeks ago, a bag of blueberries opened and some of the berries spilled in the bottom of the freezer. Every time I opened the freezer I would see the blueberries and know I have to clean them up sometime but the only way to get to them is to take the baskets out. Since I was going to do that, I decided to do the whole fridge. I did that and got everything wiped down. It is looking good again.

Ted went out this afternoon and came home with some fresh corn and peaches. He made a short stop at the Legion that opened again this afternoon.

It has been raining hard all day. There are parts of the city that flooded. We have been seeing pictures from Barrie where they experienced a tornado yesterday afternoon. Fortunately there were no deaths.

Our question this morning was about making bread. When I was cleaning the fridge, I found some flour for bread machine sourdough bread so I made a loaf to use up the flour.

Morning ladies,

Boy, am I tired and it is only 6:00am. Must have woken up about a dozen times last night. Finally I gave up at 4:20 and had both coffee and Sparks. I definitely see a nap in my future this afternoon.

Had such a great evening with the grands and SIL. Food was good but conversation was lively with much laughing. We put 2 tables together and had a fun dinner. Won't see them till the holidays, gave lots of hugs for sure. We came home, Scarlett was a super greeter at the door and out we went for a final walk.

Coyotes were a major problem all day yesterday. They went everywhere looking for lunch, sure had my bear spray ready all the time. Between them and psycho squirrels, I am in wild kingdom. Just heard on the news that a toddler was bitten and now they are on the hunt for the coyote, poor little toddler had stitches and rabies shot emoticon

Have a few errands to run and some straightening to do inside. Our weather continues to be the same - high of 75 with both clouds and humidity.

Gloria - boy that would be great having firemen come up and rescue you. Be still my beating heart emoticon

Bev Anne - listening to your neighbors is the best way to find out what is happening around you.

Waving to all, TGIF emoticon

emoticon Good morning ladies. It is nice right now, at 66 and only supposed to go up to 77 today so I'll be happy if that happens. Fire drill for my apt building this morning. Firemen will be here soon, they'll set off our fire alarm and we're to do what we know to do as if there was a fire in here. Since I can't walk down 4 flights of stairs, I'm supposed to close doors and windows and sit out on my balcony, wait to be 'rescued' by firemen. So, I'll probably just take a book out there to read till the drill is finished. Before the pandemic, they used to BBQ lunch for us behind our building where we have our own park like setting but they won't be doing that today. Exciting, eh? emoticon

My feet feel great after the pedicure yesterday, I enjoy having that done very much plus having a visit with my nurse friend while she does it. Since we're both fully vaccinated, it was okay for her to take off her mask and she was thankful for that because in hot weather, they are hot to wear!

Judy, it's really surprising and sometimes shocking when we tend to forget how to do something that we've done before, isn't it. I've been finding that happening more this past year and have put it down to being stuck indoors with no one to talk to but it might possibly be my age and you all know I'm not young, lol. It got pretty hot here yesterday too but should be somewhat cooler today.

Carol, what a wonderful way to celebrate Bill's birthday! How did it turn out?

Bev Anne, yes we've all changed our habits this past year and it seems difficult to get back to them. Safety first and though we're doubly vaccinated, it's still scary to do what we used to do, be around people. You sound like you're a real joiner and that's a great way to be!

I should go and get dressed, be ready for the fire drill. Wishing each of you a fantastic Friday, enjoy it thoroughly!

I just got back from coffee hour at our amenities centre. It's still a fairly small group because people have changed their habits over the past year and a half and I think some of the people who used to come may have moved out. The conversation varies and is interesting most of the time but they ended up talking about all the concerts and stuff they have been to and although I like live entertainment I don't like crowds so I rarely go to any. I had no idea there was so much stuff going on in our area.

Last night I got my new iPad set up -- I opted to set it up from scratch since the old one was dead and I didn't want the same stuff on it as is on my iMac or my phone. Then I ended up having to change a couple of passwords because what I thought were the latest ones didn't seem to work. It was probably time to change them all anyway. I may still have some stuff to do but will do it as it comes up.

Our social club group is wanting to get together more often so I am trying to figure out what we can do as a group that would be fun.

Morning ladies,

Yesterday was a fast day and not sure why but it flew by.

Today our weather is a repeat of yesterday 76 and humid, Tonight will be so much fun, all the grands and SIL are meeting us for dinner to celebrate Bill's birthday (his actual birthday isn't till the 24th but with work schedules (LOL, theirs not ours) and all of them leave next week for: northern CA, Ohio and Philly) tonight is it. We are meeting 1/2 way to our favorite restaurant in the old hood - Stonefire Grill.

Judy - wow, now that was a major job, congrats on tackling it. I agree You Tube has everything.

Gloria - it is so easy to put off doing exercise several times/day. I am doing that with my knee exercise.

Bev Anne - hope the new iPad mini lasts as long as your old one. Did you get everything transferred?

Roz - nice to see your post. LOL, if I get into the tub to soak, will need to call 911 to get out., With my knees, can't get myself up.

Waving to all, have a good Thursday emoticon

Wednesday afternoon I decided to clean the kitchen window. It turned out to be quite a project. The window is over the sink so I have to get the step stool to climb on to remove the window. I had done it before so I knew the window comes out but I couldn't remember how. Thank goodness for YouTube. You can find out how to do almost anything. So I got both sections of the window removed. The last time I cleaned that window, I didn't remove the screen. Yesterday I did. I cleaned all the nooks and crannies. Now comes the fun part - putting the screen back in. I was still working on it when my husband got home from his ride. Together, we finally managed to figure it out and get it back in. I was surprised he didn't tell me to never take it out again. emoticon

The windows are clean and re-installed. Every time I walk through the kitchen, I admire how clean they are. Unfortunately, we are supposed to get rain this afternoon. I expect some of that rain will spoil the clearness but that's the way it is.

By the time I was done, I was exhausted and so hot. He suggested I soak in the tub and that's what I did. I almost fell asleep. I was glad he had a big lunch when he was out so that he was okay with a light supper. Just one job and I was done for the day. No wonder I don't get much done around here. So far this morning, I am taking it easy. It feels like it is going to be another hot one. He is supposed to go golfing to make up the game from Tuesday that got rained out. I am wondering if they will finish today.

The Legion will open on Friday under the new restrictions. He is looking forward to returning to his dart games (and so am I).

Beck: Thursday Think Tip:

Have you checked in lately with ways in which all-or-nothing thinking might be impacting you?

It's always good to look for and check this type of thinking so you don't buy into the notion that:

1. Either it's a 60-minute walk or no walk,
2. It's either a "perfect" eating day or a failure
3. It's either zero desserts a day or way too many.

There is (almost always) a HUGE middle ground.

Every day I am on the verge of making slight changes that would make all the difference in my life.

One day I won't be able to do this, but today is not that day

emoticon Good morning ladies. My computer was updating this morning and it was almost impossible to post, it was so slow and sometimes just wouldn't let me in. We have a nice sunny day and a breeze. I haven't turned on my a/c, it is 79 right now and calling for rain. Nurse friend will soon be here to give me a pedicure but without the polish. I don't like polish on my toes anymore, just my fingers.

Bev Anne, how nice to have a new iPad mini. I'd like something small but know I do best on my laptop so I stick with it. The Labatts beer I got is light, hardly any alcohol but same taste. No, beer isn't the greatest taste to me but I do love a icy cold one on a hot day/night. That's enjoyable, just one.

Roz, I'm glad we can keep in touch on FB too. It isn't the same as SP, no chat threads but we do the best we can. My feet were not too bad after the long walk the other day but my legs didn't want to walk that night! That shocked me, so I'm doing my leg exercises faithfully again! You are keeping well and that's great to hear!

Carol, I'm glad you didn't have to go on the freeway the other day and had a sort of rest day yesterday. I take loads of different prescription meds for pain, there is nothing more I can have for it. The best solution as I was saying a bit above, is for me to exercise my legs daily, several times a day, so they won't hurt as much when I'm out shopping. I have difficulty being consistent about that, my fault entirely.

Judy, how nice to be able to pick cucumbers you grew!! I had vines in my garden years ago and we'd pick them, eat them just like that, no cutting, just hold a cucumber and eat it. I buy Bick's Yum Yum pickles, they are the same as bread & butter pickles. Although, I do love the b & b ones that my son does up in the fall.

Lynda, it's so nice that your son, his wife and her daughter came for a visit. Family is always wonderful to have around us. I saw those photos of your home & dock, taken by your son's drone and I love them! You are surrounded by woods/trees - awesome!

I'm out of here now ladies, will see if I can get back later on. Be thankful on this thankful Thursday, for all that you have.

Hola Chicas,

Gordon got me up this morning saying he was going to Superstore and did I want to come. My answer was if we could go to London Drugs too. So off we went. We went a little overboard at Superstore but I did manage to get it all in the fridge when we got home. Then we went to London Drugs and I bought myself a new iPad mini -- my old one died completely a week or so ago. The battery has been shot for ages and it always had to be plugged in but finally, it died completely. It would turn on but when I swiped the screen to get to the login screen nothing happened. I tried it a few times and then finally accepted the fact that it was dead. I like it to check my mail after I turn off my iMac, to play games, and text with my daughter. I also like it to listen to podcasts and audiobooks. I love the colour of it -- rose gold -- but you won't really see the colour once it is in the case I bought for it.

I like a nice cold beer on a summer day too. I like an ultra-light beer because there are fewer calories, fewer carbs and less alcohol. In Canada, I go for Molson's 67 and when I am in the US, I opt for Michelob Ultra. I rarely have any in the house.

Gdday Ladies,

Since the proposed Spark changing day I've become disillusioned but I still think about you all, It's lovely to catch up on FB with some of you .

Today it is sunny for us 88. Yesterdy it was as well. I hung my washing out and did my general house cleaning.

Glory----Hopefully your feet feel better today after a good rest.

Soaking in warm water with some Epsom Salts added would have helped

I love a cold 'smalta' at night which is a nonalcoholic malt drink
so I'm glad you enjoyed the beer.
I also like a fruit flavoured yogurt some nights

Have a good evening everyone
Be blessed stay safe.
Roz.

Morning ladies,

Yesterday went well, I didn't get on the freeway on my way home because they had a sig-alert where 3 of the lanes were closed. Needless to say, the backup went for miles, so I took the regular streets.

Today, the pace is much slower. Basically it is a free day, so think my walks with Scarlett will be longer unless Bill is with me (he can't do longer walks).

Our weather will have a high of 76 but it is very humid right now.

Judy - it does look done, cucumbers is one of my favorite veggies

Lynda - love the picture, quite nice

Gloria - sorry you had leg pain, isn't there anything you can do for it?

Waving to all, it is hump day emoticon

Every day I am on the verge of making slight changes that would make all the difference in my life.

One day I won't be able to do this, but today is not that day

Beck: Wednesday Sabotage:

I had a bad day, so I deserve to order takeout from my favorite restaurant and just veg out.

Response: I can veg out without food!

Lying on the couch and watching a favorite TV show is a great way to relax, even without eating.

I need to remember that treating myself after a bad day with (extra, unplanned) food is ultimately just a trick, because I'll wake up tomorrow feeling regretful about my choices.

It is nice outside right now (10ish in the morning). Supposedly we won't get more rain until Thursday. We'll see how that prediction goes.

I picked a cucumber this morning. I'm unsure just when to pick them but it looks ready to me. I wish I liked cucumbers more than I do but it is fun watching them grow anyway.

My husband likes bread and butter pickles. When he finishes a jar, I save the pickle juice and put my thinly sliced cucumber in it. I like them that way.

He has gone to Canadian Tire on the motorcycle. I'd better run the vacuum while he is gone.

emoticon Good morning dear friends. My day gets started right when I come in here and read your posts, I'm glad you're still here with me. Yesterday was a good and not-so-good day, hard to explain, but we walked far too much for me. We got home with my purchases and groceries, got most put away, had a late lunch, then found we had to take a couple of things back! It's no small drive, the stores I go to are at the other end of my city but my niece said we should take them right back, so we did! My poor legs paid the price though and last night they ached badly and didn't want to move! However, I bought 6 glass bottles of beer, it's the kind that has very little alcohol in it. I only like a bottle in the hot summer time so last night I took part of the sub I had bought and one of these ice cold beers out on my balcony and that was heavenly! I'm not a real drinker, may not have anything for months & months and then will want just one. Why not, I'm not getting any younger so I let myself give in on some of it's whims.

Judy, isn't that first hair cut after a lockdown so good to get! Makes it feel like a ton of hair was cut off. I think you and I wear our hair about the same, nice and short. Too bad how your husband's golf keeps getting rained out. Maybe next time the sun will shine for him. What a nice garden you have!

Carol, I hope the freeway wasn't too bad for you yesterday but it's too bad you have to drive it for these things to be done. I just read the Beck tip you put on yesterday but don't have to worry about alcohol, it's a 'seldom' drink for me, lol.

Lynda, we are like two peas in a pod. Did your Mom ever use that expression? I hate to see so many friends leaving SP early. I understand why but still, I miss them, and it's hard knowing that some of them I'll never get to talk to again. This sounds funny now but wasn't at the time - I lost my hearing while I was still with my first husband and since none of the many doctors/specialists could find a reason for my deafness, they put it down as 'sudden deafness.' However, now I think I lost it to avoid hearing my husband, LOL. Take it easy on yourself and 'go deaf' when he's not in the greatest mood.

Sandra, sad to go to the funeral but nice to get together with family. I hope all goes well for you.

Hi to everyone, those posting and those still here who are reading the posts. We don't have much longer to get together here so join us as much as you can. Enjoy your Thursday, keep it healthy.

I finally got my hair cut this afternoon. I feel like a new woman. I made it back home before the rain started. That's good because I didn't take my umbrella. My husband wasn't so lucky. This is the third Tuesday in a row that his golf game was cut short by rain. He was soaked when he got home.

I worked in my garden this morning pulling weeds. It seems that as fast as I pull them two more come up. We have lots of green tomatoes. I am eager for them to turn read. We have had beet greens a couple times. Now I am wishing I had planted more beets. We have also enjoyed green beans. There was a seed sharing program through the library. It was nice to be able to plant things I might not have planted otherwise.

Beck: Tuesday Reality Check:

Let's check in with how much alcohol you're consuming.

We know that many people lapsed into drinking more at the beginning of quarantine, and that extra became a habit.

If this is you, now is a great time to work on cutting it back to a more reasonable level. If for no other reason than alcohol has a lot of calories!
