When you tour the house, I usually have you look at the Realtor's pictures, so you know what it looked like when we moved in. Not much is the same. Plans are to have the baseboard installed next weekend. DH told the guy -- just our house, don't tell me you need to do anything for anyone else that weekend. FOCUS! He is so easily distracted. Don't get him talking.

I straightened up the patio area. I didn't have time to replant the front urns. The pansies are drooping. Wish I could salvage them.

I have a couple things to take downstairs and then I'll work in the sewing room till PATRICIAAK gets here. She has about an hour's drive from her nephew's. She stayed overnight down there, having gone to get something about her computer done. Should be a nice visit.

At least he has an office to keep most of his clutter in. My dh has it all gathered around his chair in the living room. I hate it but he can't live without the stuff---but I rarely see him touch most of it. IMO it could go or be pared down. But then I do have my own clutter---LOL
If I come to visit, I am coming to see you, not inspect your home---LOL
I spent most of the day on the road or at the doctor's office so I didn't get any cleaning done yesterday. But I did stop and get the floor cleaning pads while out. I need to get going on that laundry area cabinet before the afternoon heats up the space.

Another blogger made note that she was cleaning like crazy for company. I know the drill. Even though the cleaners were here Tuesday, I was busy putting things in order for a fellow Sparker who lives in Cleveland, who is coming over tomorrow.

DH lives in clutter, to my mind. I took each pile on his desk and credenza and put them in a cascade in one line in one place on the credenza. Things that didn't need to be out were put in the drawers. I took half his memorabilia off the fireplace mantel. I'd give my eye teeth to have that bathroom door put back on until we have a certain day scheduled for the plumbers and tile setters. The piles around the family room are in one basket.

I still have to clean the counters and finish the last of four loads of laundry. I won't have to do any more until he comes home next week.

Started my deep clean of the laundry area yesterday. The house plants are all spruced up, the dead leaves off the vines and the dead stuff in and around the plants are gone. The top of the washer and dryer are cleaned and I tossed a few things. Next place to tackle is reorganizing the cabinet above them and wash the floor. Progress is being made!

Used up the zucchini to make bread for DH and friend to snack on in flight. A bag of peanuts on a 3-hr flight isn't much.

Since I fell back to sleep, that's all I've done so far. Shower, then PT, then I'll start on all the trash cans. The neighbors are gone, so I'll do theirs, too.

Why don't men listen? Oh, well, you can tell him I told you so! LOL
I did 2 bags of mulch yesterday with my sister's help. Then I tackled the deep clean of the front porch as it was absolutely gorgeous outside yesterday. Got rid of a few things out there, pulled weeds, got lots done and also took breaks to not overdo. When I took breaks I either spent it on the back deck or on the clean front porch. That is where I spent my evening last night. I also did a load of laundry too.
Today my car goes into the shop for a recall and to get a tire fixed or replaced. I need to go shopping for some more cleaning materials. I do hope to finish the mulching up front. Should only take one more bag up there. I plan on spending more time on the deck and porch as it will be back to humid and hot for the weekend.

I was told the painter would be here, painting the exterior brick, but DH decided he didn't have enough time before he leaves, so that was nixed. DH was trying to get the bricks and pavers around the raised garden so I could stand on something solid and level while watering and weeding (had he let me put down the black fabric, there would not be weeds). He also planted four bushes (which will get so big that they will take up the space between the garden walls and themselves and cover the pavers). Can't tell him anything.

I cleaned off the chicken so I have broth and some leftovers for soup next week. Did a lot of reading today. Washed bedding and replaced the sheets. Scrubbed the tops of the extra trash cans that were mighty nasty looking. Will do the trash cans themselves later.

We went to Outback last night. Food and fellowship was wonderful.
Since I got the shots in my hips yesterday, my day was spent on the couch to give the meds time to do their work. It is so nice to be able to get up from the couch with ease again.
Today I plan on outside chores--lovely weather today and too nice to spend it inside all day.

Dinner out--what fun. Where did you dine? It must be great getting together again.

PT was fine. I haven't been hurting much at all. Every once in a while I will get some pain if I move wrong in bed.

The cleaning ladies are even getting good at going into the garage and bringing stuff -- shoe shelf, ironing board, step stool -- back into the mudroom for me. I stash it out there to get it out of the way so it's easier to mop.

I was down in the sewing room for a while a couple times (before and after PT) and fixed a few things. I tried mending a tear in DH's jeans, but my machine balked and made a mess of it. The rip stays. He says he will just use them for yard work. I'm not sure I'm giving up yet.

Glad it wasn't a longer wait. My friend in Canada had an appointment for knee shots and had to wait for 5 and half hours for it----and people want the same kind of health care as up there?
I did get my laundry done ---one load---paid my bills and then in the afternoon took them to be mailed and went to the Acme and got some good deals on meat there---enough for 10 meals for the 3 of us for $36. We divided it up and froze it. By the time I was ready to work on the laundry area it was too warm in there----i need to do that area early in the day when the sun isn't pouring in thru the windows.
Today I have shots in my hips so I will have to take it easy after that. I have dinner out with the Red hat ladies tonight.

Had a doctor's appointment for follow up on my knee issue. It was an hour from my appointment time till I saw her. Her husband is in the practice with her, as are two other doctors, and she is taking his patients until he comes off a medical leave of absence. No doubt that was the hold up, as my appointment was at 10:15. I thought I might have to have another blood test, so I was fasting. Didn't need one until before my next check up next October.

Most of the day I've been doing laundry. Just put the last load in the dryer and put dinner in the oven. I've had a headache all afternoon, so besides reading a little, I have done nothing else.

Well, I kind of got rid of some clutter yesterday. My youngest son went down into the basement to look for this lego vacuum thing---well, he found it plus his lego train set and his lego soccer set---so all of those things went home with him---LOL
Today I need to pay bills and laundry. Plan on finally starting the laundry area today.

I didn't do a thing today except go to Son's for his birthday/Father's Day. DIL made all the sides, Son #1 smoked the ribs. I supplied the pie and ice cream. The boys got their dad a reciprocating saw. Oh boy! The five grandpuppies got along pretty well. Bogart was a bit aggressive with his new boxer cousin. Just wait until he reaches his full growth. Bogart, you won't have a chance.

About all I did yesterday was put the cushions away. We went to Michael's to take him and Ashlie their engagement gift and Dom his end of school year present. At least those 2 things are out of the house.
Woohoo to finding things for you on your shopping trip!

It was overcast and rainy for the first part of yesterday. We ended up going to different stores. DH found nothing. I got a navy top and 2 pairs of tennis shoes. I wanted slip-ons. We picked up carry out at P F Chang's, which, said DH, upset his stomach.

Today he's off to Menard's. I'm going through the Spark mail that accumulated the last two days. I have to make a rhubarb pie for tomorrow's fete. Also need to mend two of son's pants.

First it was too dry to mulch and then it was too wet or too hot. And still didn't get to it. Having raised beds my main problem is the darn wire grass that gets behind the landscape fabric. That is what I pulled mostly the other day.
It was an errand day yesterday and that is rough on the knees. Did get everything put away from that.
Today is laundry day for me. Need to put the chair cushions back in the bin today as it might rain this evening and I want them dry for tomorrow. Have to decide if I start the spring cleaning today or Monday. I want to do the laundry area and I will be in that area today to do laundry so I could start it today. That area is the smallest so takes the least amount of time anyhow.

Wow, I'm amazed you've waited till now to mulch. However, if you already have a good layer from before, your beds are not weed-ridden.

It was so sunny yesterday (after a couple nights of low temps), I went outside instead of going downstairs. DH planted more grass in the arbor vitae area. It has already begun sprouting weeds, and I've hoed and pulled every day. My focus outside was to clean out the shed. I really wanted to empty the shelves and post the various garden chemicals for giveaway to people in the neighborhood. It got late, I was tired after PT, and the weather report predicted rain. I put back or relocated what I had worked on already. Before PT I dug up some ground cover from the far side of the house to transplant along the brick path by the side of the garage. I thought it was the same thing that is already there, but has gotten sparse; but when I brought it over, it seems different. I planted it anyway. I think when I pulled out all the bulbs that weren't blooming (because of the shade from the arbor vitae), there were too many bald spots created. Now that the arbor vitae are gone, they probably would have bloomed. Oh well. They are in the bed with the rhododendron and put on a good show this spring.

I may go through my blogs and copy anything I want to keep. I've already read through my "Secrets to Success" and decided I don't need to keep those.

I got lots done outside but not the fairy pot. We cleaned the deck, scrubbed all the furniture and the grill area, planted geraniums, pulled weeds, and washed vehicles. I am a bit sore this morning so not sure if we will get more done outside today. We do need to mulch but we also need to run errands. Not too sure my body can do both today.

OH, my, I would have just dressed warm and got under a blanket for the day at this point. I turned off our ac this morning---could have done it yesterday but since we were gone most of the day, best to leave it on.
Today is outside decluttering work for us today. Back deck needs a good cleaning and I have a pot out there that needs to be redone---it's a broken one that I fixed as a fairy garden, but weeds have invaded it.

I think the arbor vitae problem stemmed from the old owner here, or even the one before that, who must have planted the originals and left them to themselves. They had spread horribly, not having been maintained. The trunks were almost a foot in diameter and because they caused their own shade, they were always reaching for the sun and became leggy. The neighbor had the property lines surveyed and the bushes were on our property. They were just a nuisance to both of us. I'm not sorry they're gone. However, I'm wondering if the new ones grow like the old ones, will our property again be in shade. So much for a vegetable garden.

I'd like to be outside gardening today, but it got down to 50 last night. I was so cold this morning, I turned the heat back on. I dressed in long pants and a sweatshirt.

So, you took out those plants because he complained and then he went and bought new ones and planted them there? And do you like this neighbor? That can't have been cheap to do that either. Glad you found some plants for those planters so that he can't complain about them. LOL
I am so glad I packed up most of the classroom. I left some stuff she needed to deal with and she just dumped stuff in boxes and didn't seal them or label them either. My boxes are sealed and labeled for contents. I brought home a few things. I need to unpack that stuff and put the sweaters in the laundry basket. My lunch bag needs to be emptied and cleaned before putting away. NOt sure how much I will do today as I am going with my Dh to 2 doctor appointments. But that is my plan for my first day of Summer Break!

Oh my word! The neighbors must have spent a bundle. He has always told us that the whole line of arbor vitae were on our property. They got overgrown and were infringing on his property. We took the line of them out and had the stumps ground. Now there is definitely a slope which would doubtless erode were nothing done. Well, something has been done. Almost 20 new arbor vitae have been planted so close together that by next year, we won't be able to see his property. There are also two dogwoods that have been planted along that line. Therefore, says DH, we won't have to put up a fence. I'm thinking that when DH first took out some of the lower growth of the couple of bushes near the shed, then installed a fence to placate the neighbor when he exclaimed that we could see into his new patio area, that he didn't want a fence to be used as a separation. At this juncture, we can take down that fence, because it won't be needed.

Just did some weeding Tuesday, but I did finish my book. Wednesday I want to put the impatiens into the planters DH hates. You can't even see the planters because they are low enough to be covered by the violets.

Not doing much, just reading. Have PT at 3.

Neighbors are having more landscaping done since we took out the arbor vitae and the existing plants were put there because it was so shady.

Really, he spray painted his flowers after the flowered? I guess just because of the showing? I bet that house was beautiful. You will have to email me some pictures of it when it is decorated for Christmas. A lot of men find gardening very theraputic. I think of Mr. Wilson from Dennis the Menace---LOL
Planning in my head what I will start with once school is over. Wednesday is doctor appointment days. Thursday is going to be the perfect day for us to work on the back deck--it needs a good scrubbing and use of cleanser on it---then we need to find a paint for it. Now that the house is gray I am thinking that will be the color to use on it plus we need to redo the back steps deck. We have worn a lot of the stain off that I put on last year.---in the main walkway on it.

I did almost all the laundry today after we got home from our tour. I watched church on the live stream. At one o'clock we went over to a house that is on the Akron Tour of Homes. This year's tour is virtual, but the owner is a designer and a cousin of DH's friend. He sold the house and moved next door. Before the new owners move in, they allowed it to be decorated for this event. The designer invited us to come over and see his new home, too. His stress relief is to work in his gardens every evening and it shows. Cathy, you'll get a kick out of this. His alliums were beginning to fade, so he spray painted them! I asked if he used the paint for silk flowers, but no, he just used regular spray paint. What a hoot! If you come this way, I'm sure he wouldn't mind us visiting the property. I already told him I wanted to visit his house during Christmas. He says they go all out, so I'm sure it will be fabulous.
DH came home from church this evening and said it was cool outside, so I took the opportunity to plant my marigolds in the vegetable garden.

More packing in the room. Pretty much done with that. Started packing up my desk yesterday. Need to start a list of things I want to clean once school is out---this is when I do my Spring cleaning.
Pat, forgot to comment on other site--yes to the eggshells for slugs---also take plastic forks and stick the handles down into the soil so the points are pointed up to keep other creatures out of the soil, too.

I woke up very early, had a bowl of cereal and read for a bit, then went back to bed until 9 or so. Made breakfast and DH reminded me that we were going to a tag sale at 11. I found a box of Kleenex (8 boxes within) for $5, got two large containers of CPAP wipes for $4 and a cute little woven bird "house" for $2. DH got two LIFE magazines for $4 each. Waste of money to my mind. Whatever.

Tina, have a good time on your date.

The rain has stopped, so I'll wait a little to plant the marigolds.

I love our running posts on here and not having to go to separate people to send the same message. I am hoping to find another alternative--fingers crossed on that.
Tina, what did you do for date night? We got sheets of rain yesterday and roads that looked like rivers.
I didn't get anything done at home yesterday---seemed like I spent most of the day in my car. I liked the new doctor but surgery won't be until late August or September.

Good afternoon!

We have been getting rain on and off for a few days now, but before that it was more like over 2 weeks without. Very dry, we had a no burn mandate for part of that put out by the sheriff. Now it's nice and partly cloudy with some rain - still very hot, but the rain is nice.

We put a half compost/half soil mix in our raised beds last year (our first year having a garden) and the plants did great. This year we just freshened it up and the veggies are growing so fast and big.

Today I went for a haircut and I have to take the van to the auto shop for them to tighten some belts they put in 2 weeks ago. Tonight is date night.

Tidied up the kitchen and living room this morning. Sparking now and wondering why. What's the sense of racking up points by posting on boards or commenting on blogs or re-reading old articles. I think I'll do what you are planning -- giving big goodies to friends. Any desires?

I may do some mending. Son #1 brought me a couple pairs of pants to fix, and there are other things.

I have PT at 3.

I just use potting soil in my raised beds. I did try the raised bed soil but found it too heavy and not that great a quality.. My veggies do better in the potting soil.
I did do a load of laundry yesterday and got it all put away. We went grocery shopping at Walmart and got home and stuff in before the storm hit yesterday.
Today I have a long drive and a yucky doctor visit, then a long drive back home---so not sure if I will get anything done---although I do need to do another load of laundry.

Got up and emptied the DW, which wasn't very full; but we had fish last night and I wanted to get rid of that smell. Stripped the bedding and put in a load of washing so I can remake the bed and sleep on clean sheets tonight.

I started cleaning out the TV stand which has closed shelves on either end. One end has exercise videos and weights, straps, etc. I access it almost every day, so things get jumbled.

DH said he will buy soil today, but he went out to help a friend this morning in the Z4, so I know he won't be bringing dirt back in that.

Now you will be looking for that tool---LOL I refuse to do more online like that---if they want my business send it to me in the mail. I could probably handle it, but if something should happen to me, my dh would be totally up a creek---he has no idea how to do anything like that online and we just don't trust it either.
the one thing I need to keep is medical bills and insurance statements---a royal pain but I only save the main page. I get a statement from the insurance company for one visit and it is usually 5 pages---one I keep, 2 I shred, and 2 in foreign languages that I obviously do not need..
I got more boxes from the cafeteria lady yesterday and packed up more of the classroom. Got rid of several things---some to other staff and some to the trash can. I could get rid of a lot more if I had the chance---LOL Home today so laundry is the main chore waiting for me.

I used to craft with a wood burning tool very early on. Wonder what ever happened to it? My parents bought it for me and I used to follow patterns on cork.

I went through the old utility bills and shredded most of them. Now every business wants you to get it online. Forget paper billing. For some reason, DH wanted me to file those bills upstairs. He keeps far too much in his files. I filed the medical bills and dr. visit summaries in chronological order. Apparently, he doesn't want to save those anymore, so I will go through and cull those later.

Cleaning ladies were here today. They cleaned the kitchen cabinetry and counter tops and paid special attention to vacuuming the couches, as the grandpuppies were here this weekend at a meet and greet for their new cousin Diesel. Although I have covers, they sometimes park themselves where no cover is. I ran the DW and emptied it and did a load of bathroom throw rugs while they were here.

After they left, DH and I went a couple places and picked up garden plants. He still has to get some more soil. I have a large roll of garden fabric which I can put over the area for next year. Glad you mentioned that. I may also lay out newspapers under that. We've had two short but soaking rains yesterday and today in the mid afternoon. Perfect conditions for weeds to take root.

I decluttered the bottom cabinets at school yesterday. Found a wood burning tool and points and some wood plaques---and brought them home to my sister to try out. I know they were left by the other teacher and no use for them in the classroom. Tossed a few things, too. When I get more boxes and tackle the bookcase in there, there will probably be more stuff tossed since the teacher is not there---LOL

Sorted some of the papers, now I have to put them in file folders.

Last load of laundry is in the washer. The rest is already put away.

I have the same issue. But now it's not me cluttering the table My Dh is doing jigsaw puzzles on mine now which at least keeps me from putting my clutter on it.
I hope you all have received the news, if not look for the info today. Spark will be shutting down as of August 17. So if you have made close friends on here, please share your home email with them on Sparkmail where it is private. I will miss chatting with all who have been on here and wish you luck. Hopefully, clean off my dining room table.

It is a beautiful table . It is not in a real dining room. But I like it this way.

The problem is I tend to put everything on it!

I'd clean it off and have a bright table cloth and flower arrangement. But that never lasted long!

Pat, I would have told him next time he can do the cooking---LOL You are much nicer than I am!
Chris, hope it wasn't too bad and that the problem is fixed quickly. HOpe you did some sorting as you cleaned or at least when you go to put things back, sort and get rid of things.
I did get laundry done and bathroom cleaned yesterday.

The workers did clean up after they finished the roof, but these pieces were in and on the garden plants, so I tossed them onto the sidewalk so they didn't miss them.
What I thought was inconsiderate was them ringing my doorbell at 6:50 a.m. to ask about using our property. So glad I was up and dressed.

I did nothing but read my book today. DH and DS were the ones working hard outside. I needed a side dish for the rack of BBQ ribs I was heating up. I raided the refrigerator and cut up several vegetables and roasted them for 20 minutes at 450. Really tasty. DH liked the combination, but pointed out that I forgot to include any onion. He's on an onion kick lately. And to add insult to injury, I had a partial onion in the fridge, which I forgot.

Surprised that the Amish workers were so inconsiderate.
Someone brought me more boxes yesterday so I quickly filled them. Made more headway in that closet--about 2/3 packed up now.
Today's plan is a load of laundry and some plant care. Probably clean the bathroom and shred some papers.

Emptied the DW before breakfast. After returning from the title company, I picked up a bit of the roofing trash they had thrown into the neighbors' new landscaping. Guess I'll work on a paper pile or two. It will reach the low 80's today and I can't see sitting on the patio with Amish roofers next door. Maybe I'll go to the lower deck.

Tina, good luck selling your stuff. Enjoy the time without kids while you can. I know I am looking forward to the end of this school year.
Pat, good idea to renew.
I did start packing up the classroom yesterday. Only had 3 boxes but filled them up quickly. It was so sticky when I got home that I turning on the ac. Glad the weekend is almost here even though I really only worked 2 days this week. Rainy day again but hope I can do a bit of garden stuff tomorrow.

Didn't do much of anything but PT and some errands. I was trying to finish the book before it's due tomorrow, but decided to renew it instead.
