I see that not many people are active on here any longer but thought it would be worth a try anyways. I am 30 years old and am pregnant with my first child. I was losing weight at first but have since started to gain again. I am trying to go on Weight Watchers but get a lot of criticism for not giving the baby what it wants LOL. I am nearly 300 lbs and don't want to get any higher. I would love some buddies on here to share this time with :)

Hello! This team doesn't seem to be too active, but I do see a few posts! I'm looking for anyone who is also trying to be/stay/get healthier while pregnant. I had lost 40 lbs and maintained it for several months before getting pregnant. I was still overweight by a lot :-) I had to stop working out for the first 5-6 months, and let my eating slide too. I've been working at walking and getting on track with logging my foods. My goal is also to control my weight gain the remained of my pregnancy. Anyone interested in chatting or becoming buddies, let me know!

I just signed up for this group. I've been on SP for about 2 years now, on and off. I had previously lost 50lbs putting me at 175 and then I found out we were expecting a baby. I tried to sign up for babyfit, but since I have gestational diabetes it won't let me emoticon . So I came back here, deleted all my old info and reset it to the diabetic setting emoticon . I'm using the meal planning option until I can get into to see the dietician. I'm 28 weeks along and plan on having a scheduled c-section.

Good luck with your pregnancy! I am also over weight myself and I only have a few more weeks to go. I wish I knew about the fit baby site earlier that would have been really helpful!

I have always been overweight and every time I come to Spark and lose some weight between 20 and 40 pounds I have gotten pregnant! I am very concerned about my weight during my pregnancies as I am already high risk being in my 40's with both. I have joined babyfit.com Sparks other site, but will remain active on Spark and this site during and after my pregnancy! ;)

Welcome to the board and congrats on your pregnancy!!
I've not dealt with that on my end. I've lost some but have had gains too. It's been up and down for me. I did find in the beginning though between the nausea and nothing sounding good that it was much easier to lose than to gain. Once I finally started eating, I was dx with gestational diabetes and then lost some on that diet.

Hello All,
I'm pregnant with my second (first is 8). 19 weeks now, almost halfway there! When I found out I was preggers in January I was at 210. I dropped sodas and switched to water to loose the caffeine. I haven't had the energy to do any exercising, but I am dropping weight rapidly, 191 at my last check up. My Doc says I'm loosing too fast and that I need to start gaining or I'll have to start drinking stuff like ensure. Do any other overweight moms-to-be have any issues with loosing too much?

I've been mostly staying away from fast food for the past week, and I am feeling a bit better. I think my weight might even be down this week, I think most of that is water weight though, I gained like 5 pounds in two days when Mom first went in the hospital.

Oh with how busy you've been, I can imagine that fast food is about all that you can handle on some days. Sometimes it's not even that you don't have time to grab a healthy snack out the door - it's that you don't have the time for the grocery shopping that puts the healthy stuff in your kitchen to begin with! Hopefully when your mom comes home for her recovery you can get back to the healthy habits since you'll actually be there to cook/prepare food. I bet the healthier foods will make you feel better too. :)

I think there are so many factors! I was so sick and exausted throughout the 1st trimester that exercise went by the wayside, and I ate whatever didn't make me nauseous. Even though I started feeling better in the 2nd trimester, I didn't change back to healthy habits. Then with all the stress of my Mom's cancer and now liver transplant, I've been eating so much fast food. Those processed carbs are especially bad for my insulin resistance, especially since they took me off my meds at the end of the 1st trimester.

I hope for you too that you passed your last test! I've heard so many things about other women who are pregnant having to wait so long for their test results - my dr did a turnaround of 24 hours. I'd go crazy waiting that long!!

Do you feel like you know what's causing your weight gain or has it just kinda happened? You've got a lot on your mind - I think it'd be hard to manage that and keeping the weight gain on the forefront of your mind. I didn't realize coming into pregnancy that the weight gain piece of it would be as tricky as it is. Here I thought your body just kinda did what it needed to and that it was just those that took "eating for two" literally that would get overweight. But boy is it easy to creep up there! And you read so much about what the baby needs and you want to make sure to get her plenty... it's quite the fine line. I'm sure you'll do fine in your remaining weeks. :) Let me know if there's a goal you want to try to set to meet together or anything like that. I do love the buddy system!! We could even make it a team goal on here!

Welcome Megan!

I have insulin resistance, and have been worried about GD ever since they took me off my meds at week 14. I had a test at 18 weeks that I passed, and I just had a test last Tuesday (at about 26 1/2 weeks) that I am waiting for the results on.

I have gained 18.6 pounds thus far, but 15 of them have been since week 18! I really can't afford to keep gaining 2 pounds a week when I have 14 weeks left!

I just joingd this group and would love to be counted on as an active member!! I'm Megan , 33, and I'm 27w 4d expecting a girl. I kinda dropped off of sp when I first found out I was pregnant mostly b/c all I had time to do was go to work and sleep. Ha! Actually, had I thought to look for groups like this on here, I definitely would've stayed on.

Anyway, I just found out though that I've been diagnosed with gestational diabetes and really need the support with diet/exercise b/c the dr thinks this can all be managed that way with no meds and no shots. I REALLY don't want meds or shots so I've got to get this right! When I first started sp I was 210, I dropped down to 200 by the time I knew I was pregnant,(though I don't know if I ever put that final weight in?) and I'm just now back up to 210.2 (which I've also not updated-will do!). I'd really like to keep these last few weeks down to a 5-10 lb gain. The dr said I may even lose weight with this plan to manage my GD which according to her would be perfectly fine so I'd be happy with that too. :)

I'm so excited to get to know all of you!

I just joined this group and I am at 30 weeks with my first. I'm just under 300 lbs and doing whatever I can to improve my strength and endurance for labor. I am so excited about having a baby, and really hoping that all will go well in April, even with my extra weight!

looking forward to seeing what I can accomplish in the last few weeks of 2015!

Here's hoping we can get this group going a little bit!

I am fairly new here. Currently 18.5 weeks pregnant. Now that I am in my 2nd trimester and feeling better, I am trying to start eating better and add some light exercise into my routine.

I just joined this group today and I am 27 weeks. I have a 4 year old and I'm in school full time. I took my first Glucose test last week, fasting apparently that was wrong and I was fasting for waaaay too long, 17 hrs, anyway my Blood sugar was too high, 152, and so I am in the running for the 3 hour test woo hoo. I decided to jump back into SP to get some encouragement and to work on that blood sugar. I have a week till my next test which should be plenty of time to get it in check but I really want to keep my weight stable or decreasing. I would Like to be under 200 by a month after this baby is born and I would also like to not gain more than 10 lbs total if I can reach either of those goals I will be thrilled. I look forward to getting to know some moms in the same boat and to keep up with my goals.

remember to subtract the weight of the baby etc from yourself when weighing, I'm trying to find the website I used but considering by the time you're done upto or maybe even over 24lbs can be baby then just by staying at the 234 you are at now you'll come out better off (unless you wind up bed ridden after a c section and eat waaay too much like I did and then bloat! GRRR anyway I only gained 4.4lbs during pregnancy but by the time I left hospital I was 19.8lbs heavier than before pregnancy!!)

Somehow I missed this post...

I'm a fairly new member, 16w 2d pregnant with my 2nd, and according to society about 90-100 lbs overweight for my height of 5'6". Screw society LOL! I'd be happy to be able to get back to 165ish in the end. My current goal is to be under 200 by the time I deliver and recover. Not too hard of a goal for me because I'm already down to 234... If I can get down to 225 and maintain until delivery I'll be golden.

Hi there,
my baby is 11 months old and will be 1 on the 27th of Nov, I'll be floating around because we are hoping to try for number 2 this month, and if not successful then again in Oct 2011 onwards (trying not to be pregnant at my 30th! lol) anyway I'm still overweight, would like to be less overweight for next pregnancy so continue to spark and am happy to pop in and offer advice etc where needed. :) Pleased to see people making use of this group again.

Oh, yes, you're being here would be WONDERFUL! :)
Thanks for responding! :)
I am planning on being here daily...seeing how I need the support, and I know there are other ladies out there as well, that need encouragement and friendship.
Any of your input from your pregnancies would be great.
Have a blessed day!

I am still here, sort of... I have two little ones, my daughter is 2 & 1/2 my son is 10 months. I was overweight before and after my pregnancies, I still am, but trying my best to stay active everyday. The lbs are slowly melting off, chasing my toddler helps ;)
I could be here more often if anyone wants to talk, it has been quiet here lately, and so I drifted away.
I would love to find some friends to keep my spirits up, keep me motivated, and help you do the same.
Lanieme.

Ok, so, I am new to this group and am now blessed with the opportunity to be a Team Leader. I asked for this chance, in hopes of getting some activity and participation here, because I NEED IT! :D I know life gets busy, and especially once those babies are born, TOO BUSY to keep up with all that's out there. ;) However, I would love to see who is PREGNANT and OVERWEIGHT, and who has HAD THEIR BABY(IES), and lastly, WHO WANTS TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS GROUP. :)
We need all of the participation and support we can get. Those mamma's that have had their babies already and their experiences will be great knowledge to share with those of us new to the group.
Have a blessed day, and let me know if you have any questions. :)
