My goal is not to become diabetic.

Not to put on the weight I lost when I was sick. I am slowly going there.

To really work on eating healthier.

Not to beat myself up when I fall.

To be more patient.

I may not make all of them, but they are important to me.

Hi Joe and BC,

I don't really make goals per say. I just want to do better than last year in something pertaining to my journey to live healthier. Goals are def good things but for me one is enough, so I would like to lose another 10 pounds.

I would also like to be more active in my journal entries this year. I found that since I've been SPARKING I don't write as much so will aim for that too.

Hey I'm an April baby too, the 17th !!!

Joe, those are great goals! You have an April birthday too, huh? We both share a Color Run goal. I'm not so sure I'll be running by the time the next one comes through Baltimore, but I'm thinking about doing it anyway.

As far as yoga is concerned, I started out doing the Diamond Dallas stuff (google DDP).. Yes, he's not a typical yoga instructor and he is a complete goofball (I say this affectionately.. he will make you laugh) but he really helped me to understand how to modify and gave me a great start. I tried other videos before him but he really got me going and made it fun. Now I belong to the Yoga Collective online site and Travis Elliott is my favorite.

Good luck with the divorce! Been there, done that... believe it or not my divorce took 10 years from when I filed. It could have been over in 90 days but nooooo. :-P Hang in there. By the time I got my divorce decree it was a lot less excitement than I thought it was going to be. I guess I still don't feel like it's over, haha...

I'm doing mostly monthly goals with a focus towards annual ones. My inner geek got a little crazy and I made an Excel spreadsheet.

1. Work out at least 250 minutes per week for January (I plan to work this up as time goes on)
2. Do a ropes course/ zip line
3. Yoga at least twice a week
4. Meditate daily
5. Get my A1C to below 5.7
6. Check in with the group regularly (at least 5 out of 7 days a week)
7. Throughout winter, make sure I'm getting enough sun to stave off winter depression. So far, so good. Fingers crossed!

A friend on my other team lost her's then when she found out SP didn't have them anymore she found them available on Amazon.

I put mine on the minute I get up and don't take it off until I go to bed. I also found that the most accurate place for it is on your shoe or sock. Makes sense to me !!!!

Hey Joe,

Yep, I still use the Spark Tracker although I was sad when they stopped making it. I don't know what I'll do when it stops working, because I can't wrap my head around something on my arm counting steps. It doesn't make any sense. There was even a joke about it on the web, where they showed somebody getting more steps eating a bag of Cheetos than doing pushups and other exercises.

Joe,
Great idea! My goals for 2016:

1. Post in the Teams. This is something I haven't done ever because I feel like I don't have time with working full-time and going to school part-time. In all honesty, I can't afford not to. I need support and I feel good about giving support in return.

2. Step it up. It sucks that we don't have the Spark Tracker badges anymore, but I've done an analysis of my monthly steps and I'm still not doing enough. At best, my averages have been less than 6,000 steps a day. Yikes! Sure, I have plenty of days when I do 10k or more, but not enough obviously. I want to up my average to 7000 steps a day. The emphasis here is on average. Baby steps to get to the goal of 10k or more.

3. Get my A1C to 5.7 or below.

4. Cut my BP med dose in half.

5. This may sound silly, but I want to be able to do at least one pull-up by the end of 2016. I need to work on upper body strength big-time.

Thanks for the kick in the seat! :-)

Hi Joe, this is a great idea and I will def post my goals for 2016 as soon as I know them. Look for it closer to the end of the month.

I'm sure there will be some newbies starting up after the 1st of the year as well. Maybe they will stick around ?????
